This inn is now CLOSED. Ember Inns have taken it over as the "Brown Cow". Avoid.

April 2015 The Brown Cow & Dragon was a reasonable local pub restaurant, but recently closed down and then reopened as an Ember Inn called the Brown Cow. Note: Read the Brown Cow (Selby Road) reviews before visiting, it is NOT up to much at this time.

We went to the Brown Cow for a meal last night the 28th of April. It was about 8 o'clock the place was full. When we went to the Bar to order we were told it would be a 45 min wait.Which we debated about and said ok.But As we were about to order it changed to an hour wait.As both my... More

I am personally happy the dragon has flown away, the old food was over rated, over priced, they only served small portions of Thai food for big prices, normally Thai food gets served in large portions and you end up taking some home, you never took any home from here in fact probably stopped off at the chippy on your... The alterations are a joke. So obviously designed to cram as many people in as possible. The size of the parking spaces are tiny making parking anything larger than a smart car there be in danger of getting knocked by car doors. Boring menu, and A LOT more expensive than when it served Thai food. Be carefull how much they... More

Oh such a disappointment that The Brown Cow and Dragon is now just the Brown Cow! The Dragon has flown and there is no longer a Thai restaurant. We stayed at the Premier Inn next door to The Brown Cow and have done many times before and we have always eaten at the Thai restaurant the Dragon above the pub.... More

Family get together at the newly renovated brown cow. We thought we would give it a try from the harvester. What a joke. We sat & had a few drinks before eating, when we tried to order our food the kitchen was closed. 4pm & no food orders. Why wasn't we told before we spent £100 on drinks. Definitely won't... More

We received a 25% discount voucher for the newly refurbished Brown Cow. The voucher had to be redeemed by the 24th March but the opening wasn't until 7th April. Only useful to Time Lords then. Despite this second 'Dime Bar Moment' by the new management (the first was emailing and saying they were opening three days earlier than they actually... More

Went to the newly refurbished Brown Cow a week ago for Sunday lunch. There were four of us who ordered Sunday lunch and one of us ordered a dessert. The dessert arrived before the mains (!) so obviously, sent it back. Two of the Sunday lunches arrived about 5 minutes before the other two. Food was ok but could have... More

Went with a friend to check out the new place, since it's just the Brown Cow now (the Dragon, supposedly, having been vanquished) - celebrating a new job with a few pints. They have an impressive range of ales on top that I was quite impressed with, and the staff were very friendly. I thought it was a bit strange... More

Went for a lunch, not many people in so you would expect the staff to be more attentive. The cottage pie was nice but the spring greens consisted of a couple of green beans and some cabbage which was cold and shrivelled and unappealing. One of my friends got the wrong meal and had to wait, so we had nearly... More
