Great old fashioned pub

These are a dying breed in the mostly soulless bar scene. Real ale without pretension. Good for a few beers on a trawl about Leeds

Lovely traditional pub which is currently threatened with closure due to development in the area. Interior looks like it should be a listed building - which apparently it was originally but was delisted during the redevelopment application. Good selection of real ales. Most customers appeared to be regulars but a friendly atmosphere.

The beer is both excellent and very cheap. The locals are friendly and great fun. It's also a very pretty pub with original features and stained glass. To top it off, the service is faultless.

We popped in for a drink after a bad experience in Sandanista. We stayed for hours. Good beer, good service and a warm welcome.

Never had a bad pint here. A great range of well-kept real ales at reasonable prices. Sport on TVs dotted around the place (non-invasive so don't be put off if that's not your bag). Very friendly people (bar staff and punters alike) who always say hello and chat with you. It's how pubs used to be!

I love great old pubs, but this one will always be special because it's where I first set eyes on my mother. Not such a long story - adopted, found out, did some digging, day out in North Yorkshire, met an uncle, contacted my mother, arranged to meet. And just to add to the whole 'occasion' I had probably the... More

Not many left. Worth a quick visit to experience the back in the day pub atmosphere, but wouldn't recommend staying too long unless you want to get on a sess with the regulars and watch a bit of sport on TV

Nice traditional pub, friendly staff and plenty of locals, I went on a Sunday night, nice to see it wasn't swarming with students/hipsters. Had a couple of tasty pints in a relaxed atmosphere.

Love this place, we try to visit every time we are in Leeds, which is quite frequently! Our most recent visit was Saturday 31 May, always a pleasurable experience, busy, quick service very friendly staff! My only niggle on this occasion is, love the fact you have lots of bunting for The World Cup but I noticed at least two... More
