Description: Situated on the rather swish York Place, close to Leeds mainline railway...
Situated on the rather swish York Place, close to Leeds mainline railway station, Miah’s Place is an Indian restaurant with a wow factor. Right from the outset you really know that you’re in for something special – the restaurant is set within one of the old red brick buildings, behind wrought iron low fencing, its subtle signage indicating that Miah’s Kitchen, a small scale chain making waves throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is perhaps a little more special than your average Indian eatery. Through the portico-ed front door you’ll enter a stylish dining room furnished in an unusual Art Deco inspired style, with ball topped lamps, sensuous lines and low slung leather seating, all in low key tones. Miah’s Kitchen offers an extensive menu of old Indian favourites, ranging from tandoori dishes to biryanis and baltis as well as a good collection of specialties created especially for the restaurant, using contemporary and traditional techniques. Surprisingly affordable, Miah’s Kitchen provides an upmarket take on Indian dining without the price tag.

A (hidden) gem of a restaurant

I visted a couple of months ago during a business trip. I'd never had known about the place had it not been for an advertisement I found in my hotel room (Crowne Plaza). Great place. Nice environment, great service and superb food all round. My only minor critisism would be that I was a little cold... read more

a bit of a mixed experience - food was ok, not the best we've ever eaten and a few of us who had ordered spicier curries couldn't taste any spice at all which was a bit disappointing. My partner said his was pretty much just a lamb stew. The service was also disappointing - very slow despite the restaurant being... More

My sister and I ate here on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy when we first went in but was getting busy by the time we left. The menu choice is very good & the staff were friendly and helpful. Poppadoms & pickle tray to start. Lovely coconut powder option in the pickle tray, never had that before but it... More

A friend recommended that I try Miahs Kitchen and I have no regrets. I don't usually write reviews but with food and service this good, I just had to spread the word. The food was amazing and arrived at the table quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. Definitely recommend to anyone!

I have to say I tend to steer away from contemporary looking Indian restaurants out of fear they would not be authentic but I was pleasantly suprised! We barely waited to get a table and although it was extremely busy and we were a large group, we still got the same personal service as everyone else. The rogan josh was... More

I've been a few times now, and it has never failed to give anything less than excellent food. I particularly enjoy the Tikka Naga, which is made with Naga chilies and consequently a little warm, however this can be made a little milder whilst still getting the smoky greatness of the chili. Fish pakoras for starter are definitely recommended too,... More

Went with a group of 7 friends for an evening meal before going out for drinks. It was a busy Saturday and we expected a long wait but the service was excellent, we were greeted right away and shown to the seating area where we waited around three minutes if not less to be seated. The waiter was very informative... More

The service was beyond good. The seating, lighting and environment was good. The waiter was not sure if the food was halal or not even though it's advertised as halal. The food was bland to me. Lacked a bit of salt. Myself and wife could not eat any of the starters or mains. We brought it home and added some... More

First tried Miah's Kitchen out about 3 years ago and I think since then we've been possibly once a month without fail, everything from the service to the food is immaculate here, the staff are personable and actually take time to get to know you, they always keep on top of drinks and the food is honestly incredible, they can... I love the food at Miah's and the staff are always helpful. I usually eat in but as I didn't have time, I popped on on the way back to my hotel and ordered a delivery. Food was prompt and quality was excellent as usual. I have and will go back again.
