We passed on the way back from the tour de france race, as we thought it looked lovely. We went inside, lovely decor and home made food/cider on display and staff waiting attentively to sit us where we fancied and pass on menus. I loved the interior, quite dark, lots of beautiful dark wood and little lights but we opted... More

I used to love this place and I just feel it needs a bit of a spruce and the cleanliness of the disabled loo had suffered when we last attended. The Yorkshire Havercakes are still to die for though, the Timothy Taylor on draft still excellent, and I will be coming back :)

Used to love this place years ago. Visited for Sunday lunch with family & friends last year and found it appalling. The carpets were dirty, service was poor with young girls who didn't seem to know what they were doing. Asked for my steak medium- rare which came cremated. It's really gone downhill which is a shame.

went last week, food was fine, but just that. Very poor veg selection, horrid chips, nice steak. Pub is a little like a cafe which sells beer. Try Alma inn further down rd, more expensive but so much better.

This was my first visit to The Dog & Gun Inn and I'm sure it won't be my last! The pub is cosy, and very different, with all it's fairy lights and quirky decoration. My friend and I both ordered the salmon sizzler. When they arrived, I realised there was sweetcorn in the dish, to which I am highly allergic.... More

My girlfriend and I have eaten here four times last year. The atmosphere is warming and the staff very polite. The menu is very extensive and cannot fail to please all. You find yourself having to ponder between a few dishes. The Dog and Gun is very tastefully decorated and has an homely feel about the place. You feel relaxed... More

I have been to this restaurant quite a few times. This place does what it does very well indeed, this isnt a fancy restaurant by any means, it doesnt do well presented plates and hard to master cooking techniques at all really. What it does do very well is give you good portion sizes, quality ingredients, huge selection (the most... More

Went for lunch - had a hot sandwich - the bread was toasted so dried out - served with some sort of fried potatos - nothing special - staff surly & not particularly friendly - disappointed really. Wont be going back
