A poor experience. Service very slow (maybe just because there was only one waiter), unsmiling service staff. Food very average and the Goats Cheese Muffin positively poor. Atmosphere cold. Condition of decoration in loos tired and somehow this seems important. Got lots going for it location wise but not delivering enough for us to return.

We ate there on a Friday lunchtime in April. Two of us had a Smoked Haddock Fishcake with Lime and Wasabi Mayonnaise served with Salad (£9.50). We both received one large fishcake with a nice crispy breadcrumb coating and plenty of haddock as well as potato inside. The Lime and Wasabi Mayonnaise was a bit of non-event though tasting more... You can go for breakfast at your local greay spoon and have something that satisfies. The quality may not be too good but you've had your sausage, bacon and beans so what's the problem? Well the problem for you is you're missing out on the type of breakfast you'll get at the George & Dragon. It's a lot better than... More

We ate here as all other establishments in the town we had earmarked were fully booked - maybe that colours one's experience anyway. The menu contains very few surprises with the usual pub/inn fare on offer. Everything was edible and the service was very good; however, I would not make a detour to eat here again.

Fairly good and attentive service let down by very average food. We visited at lunchtime and had a Desparate Dan pie and a crayfish sandwich. The pie was massive, but the filling was so bland and also on the dry side, my husband was really disappointed. The sandwich was also large but again, very bland...no evidence of the promised marie... More

The George and Dragon was recommended by the Good Pub Guide and we were glad we made the trip. It's a lovely building with comfortable decor and a pretty terrace (and rooms if you're planning to stay in Chichester). We were greeted with a big smile and friendly chat and we settled down in the bar for a drink or... More

We walked in to a Friday night jam packed pub, and a veryhhospitable waiter took the time to show us the dining area. Chicken was so succulent and presented as would be expected in 5 star dining. Can't work out why it is rated down the list, as most of the other establishments shut for dinner. Well done.

Visited this pub with my husband recently for lunch. We'd eaten here before although this was about 2 years ago and had a really delicious meal. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, and the place was very quiet, but that did mean we were served quickly. We ordered 2 slow-pulled pork rolls served with 'american coleslaw'. We weren't too impressed... More

The menu was quite limited, but this is a good sign to me because it suggests a chef in the kitchen. There were a couple of interesting vegetarian options, and some fish, all reasonably priced. Service was quick and friendly.
