Good food, served well

Spent lunch here today and have to say it was nice food served well. My colleague has a number of allergies which were catered for and understood and my meal was tasty and well priced. I was a little surprised my "BREADS" choice came in a bog standard part baked baguette rather than the Artisan... read more

My friends have recommended that place to me. I'm a pescetarian and there was not much fish or veggie dishes to chose form. However when I finally decided what to eat it was very good. Dessert I wanted to order was off the menu, but that wouldn't spoil my dinning experience if I was recommended something else. Unfortunately staff were... More

what great food and service, 3 of us went and had a mothers day meal and can't fault the service or the food, we had breaded mushrooms, calamari and southern fried chicken, all very tasty and hot , Then had chilli, scampi and a burger well cooked to perfection and for desert had chocolate pudding with custard, cheesecake and hot... Had fish and chips which isn't cheap here. It was watery and tasteless and everything just tasted like it was defrosted or packaged. The waiter dropped my fork in the mushy peas handle first which is always handy. A replacement would have been nice! Would have expected better quality from a national chain in terms of both service and food.

After a bad experience with the Hove branch we decided to give the chain another try rather than tarring them all with the same brush. This proved to be a mistake. We were the first customers in for a Sunday breakfast so the tables were still dirty and sticky from the previous night. We moved from the first table as... More

The restaurant was empty at 8pm on Tuesday but we waited a full three minutes at the counter to be served. The barman saw us walk in, he was standing in the dining area. I understand, sometimes you need to finish one thing before serving - but no task in hand was apparent. When he came to serve us there... More

My friend and I visited The Slug on Saturday 7 February 2015. We arrived at approximately 7.30pm to find that it was not particularly busy and waited at the bar to be served by one of two uninterested bar persons. When a mouse-like server had completed the order with the person stood next to us she then proceeded to walk... More

Went there for lunch as we were in town. Was not very busy and had a choice of tables. We ordered our coffee and food. I had a Beef with red wine sauce pie in puff pastry, peas and chips. My wife had an aubergine tomato bake with a house salad. Desserts were 2 for 1, the cheapest being free.... More
