Good food, lovely place but short staffed

After walking around Chichester with the family we decided it was time to get something to eat, this was my first experience with a slug and lettuce. We were seated quickly and proceeded to order our food. That's when things took a slight downhill spiral. We were informed that the restaurant had... read more

This was the most disappointing stop off on the way back to the car. Service was slow despite only being a third full. Table never did get wiped despite asking twice and even offering to do it myself. And sadly as we were sat in a window area, we could clearly see just what filth we were sat in! Everywhere... More

Disgusted. 😭 I have been left disenchanted with the entire slug and lettuce franchise after visiting the Chichester branch! Where do I begin? The selection of drinks of draught was poor at best (Foster's and Strongbow being notable exceptions). Absolutely shocking draft because the door was left open after the staff were smoking cigarettes. The decor is not only unpleasant... More

Restaurant in need of redecoration. Tables in poor state and not properly cleaned. 13amp socket hanging off wall. Both the Mayo and tomato Ketchup were empty. Staff happier playing with toddler and chatting with mates and young lady than clearing the table. The only thing that made me give the rating I did was that the food was good.

We went there for a drink and snacks just before Christmas after going to the market at the cathedral. Service was painfully slow and we spent the time watching an ever increasing pile of dirty plates and bowls just pile up on the bar whilst the bar staff did the bare minimum of work, interspersed with chatting to their friends... The restaurant itself could be excellent however the lack of staff meant that the service suffered. The fact that they ran out of artisan bread and chips was also worrying as it was only lunch time. I would visit the restaurant again to see if the situation has improved. I did feel sorry for the staff that were there.

It was gone 3pm and was relatively busy, which is a good sign that the place is somewhere good to eat. Although our drinks order was taken quickly, receiving them was another matter. It was necessary for us to ask on more than one occasion for them. The food was excellent and well worth waiting for. Was large portions, leaving... More

Have visited here a few times over the past few years. It never changes. Still poor standard of food which is very expensive, drinks made differently every time, very quiet during peak hours which is never a good sign and staff never seem interested. Avoid.

You know what you are getting from the Slug and Lettuce, in respect of food and drink. What varies is the environment. This one is particularly good. whilst it is quiet during the day, and I like it that way, I am sure it is really humming in the evening. Plenty of space to sit or stand, clean, great toilets... Called in here last Monday for lunch, so very good value at 50% off food on Mondays. Service was quick, although the restaurant was quite full and food good. The waitress was particularly helpful when I asked for sweeteners for my tea and was surprised that they didn't have any. I saw her then pop out and came back with... More
