Average eaterie in an interesting setting

Came across this place for afternoon tea. As soon as we sat down, it became clear that this wasn't for us. The table was sticky and we had to wait a long time to be served. Food was slightly less than average and not good value for money. Sorry, we won't be making a return visit.

We just wondered upon this lovely little place. We were just going to have coffee but the food looked nice and is freshly homemade. The coffee was very smooth and we both had cheese and tomato omelette with chips and salad. All very tasty and fresh . Thoroughly recommend it. Quite a central position. Very friendly staff. Waitress service.

Open for breakfast and all day but not evening this slightly below ground (hence The Crypt) tearoom /restaurant is OK, with no frills. The toasted sandwich was well filled with bacon and cheese accompanied with salad and corn crisps. Just south of The Cross at the heart of Chichester's shopping centre, it is very convenient.

Service was good and the coffee was excellent but there it stopped. The food had been kept under a heat lamp and was too hot to enjoy, there is plenty of potential here but it just didn't deliver. Price was at he top end and you can do a lot better.

My wife and I came across this little café/restaurant, housed in the unusual setting of a 12th Century crypt near the Cathedral, by pure chance. Whilst the food was not exceptional , it was enjoyable and reasonable both in quality and price When next in Chichester and in need of a light bite we will certainly revisit.

We visited for breakfast, my husband had the full English and I a sandwich. The service was fine and surroundings pleasant, all came without too much of a wait. The coffee and the breakfasts were both really good, infact the husband mentioned it was the best he'd ever had - and he has had a lot. The ingredients were obviously... More

What a lovely place for a restaurant in an old crypt, which gave it a pleasant atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and the food arrived in record time. This is not fine dining, but homemade type food. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the steak and kidney pie was a real homemade pie with chunks of steak and kidney instead... More

I visited here for breakfast in mid-November. It is in a crypt so the decor, design and shape is unique. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was ok but relatively basic. It wasn't awful but it wasn't amazing either. I'd visit again - because of the venue and staff.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We rushed in with little time to eat. We were welcomed warmly, seated and served promptly were given such a large plate of food each we struggled to finish it! The food is simple but filling. Well worth a lunch out.

We visited for brunch on a Saturday morning, and there was plenty of choice. The coffees were good, and the brunch was excellent They also serve lunches, and looking at the menu there is also plenty of variety, also with a specials board. Service excellent, and in a great traditional setting Overall - worth a visit - good food and... More
