My husband and I called in today for the first time. Great pot of tea for two plus tasty tea cakes. Everything as you would hope for whilst needing a break from shopping. The Christmas menu looked very reasonably priced but we did not try it ourselves.

my friend and I met at the Buttery at the week end, we had a lovely home made soup with sandwich, followed by cream tea, I often go there on my own to have a scone, they are the best in town, its a little treat.

My wife and I popped into this cafeteria for a coffee and sandwich and wished we hadn't,the staff seemed rude and uninterested and the tables were appalling, they were sticky and needed a good clean down, the drinks were brought to us in such a manner that we canceled our food, paid for the drinks and left never to return

Hungry and as we were in the vicinity decided to try this for lunch. What a mistake. I had a toasted cheese and my husband a toasted cheese and ham sandwich. They came with a salad and tortilla chips (an odd accompaniment for toasties). We had a pot of tea for two to accompany this. Bread definitely of the cheap... More

Wish I'd read the more recent reviews before making a repeat visit here...my mistake. Bland food, 'unbothered' staff, chaotic service and an overly expensive bill at the end of it. I'm sure there are far better tea rooms in Chichester for our next visit, and I shall be finding them with the help of tripadvisor next time...not a great experience... More

Was in Chichester hungry and thirsty and this restaurant was relatively empty - perhaps this should have been a clue! Waitress very helpful and food came quickly. Luckily I sat outside where it was much lighter than the inside of the cafe as I managed to spot a hair on my food. Tried to carry on but then saw another... More

Wonderful location and a beautiful building, but that is where the pleasure ends. We went there at lunchtime on Saturday. The table was dirty and sticky, we did ask for it to be cleaned and a waiter did a quick wipe round the centre with a cloth leaving the rest still uncleansed. We ordered two Chef’s Salads of marinated Feta... More

It was just before a quarter to four on a Saturday that we decided we needed tea! We went into the buttery, went to the counter to be told to "sit down" be a very abrupt waiter and that they would come and take our order. We sat at the least dirty table we could find (I don;t think any... More

Very pretty interior, but that was the only real plus point of this place. Perhaps the plastic menus should have told us. Fair selection of food on offer, we both chose an omelette. Took a little bit longer to come than we would have liked (was not that busy either), but unfortunately we sent my wife's back. Advertised as "crispy... More

We went for a family meal today, it was awful! My boyfriend had the cream tea which was all crumbley, he was unable to eat it or pick it up as it was falling apart! He wasn't even able to spread the cream on. My mother had a cheese scone which was a lot better but still had the similar... More
