Great steak in fine setting

A cold winters evening was the scene. The restaurant was very warm and inviting with aromatic smells wafting through. Nice glass of red wine and ordered the sirloin steak, with all the trimmings. Served perfectly for me medium-rare and exterior fat very crispy. The chips were well done, crispy and... read more

Although it is generally a pub, it has, as many, gone more dining; the food was very good, compliments to the chef; the staff were not helpful, we were told to go to our table after ordering food and drinks orders would be taken at the table, after 10 minutes we tried to find staff only to find them sitting... Recommended to this gastro- pub by a volunteering colleague at Tangmere Museum. It is a severe test of a restaurant to deal with a party of 21 as well as the rest of the customers on a busy, cold but sunny Friday lunch time. SERVICE was good with only one small error. Food and drink from my fellow volunteers '... More

I have just re visited this wonderful pub today(Friday) and was not disappointed. We were greeted by the managers at the desk, who took our order, and showed us to our table. The food and service was second to none and the two young girls serving us were very attentive and kept busy. I had the burger which I have... More

We visited with a large group. The food was it's usually good standard but the service was disappointingly slow. The pub was busy but clearly not enough staff to cope.

My second visit and not disappointed! Two of us ordered very rare fillet steaks and two sea bass. All were excellent. This is also second time I have had fillet steak here and I have rarely found better. Puds were traditional English. Spotted dick and custard and treacle sponge and ice cream. Good honest fare. Only minor gripe it took... More

Have eaten here many times before and have always good, simple food at reasonable prices. Sadly not today; not sure if there's been a change of chef/ownership but it was horribly overpriced for below par food. Avoid the beer-battered cod at all costs - limp, frozen, suspiciously rectangular and never seen a drop of beer in it's life; peas that... More

In reply to your review, neither the Management, Chefs or Owners have changed and neither have our suppliers. We would sate that the prices have not changed for over a year and that batted cod is bought in frozen as has always been our practice. It is a great shame that your concerns where not bought to our attention at... More
