Decent pub grub, conveniently located on A27

We booked a table but it wasn’t necessary, perhaps the wild weather on a wet Friday was keeping people away???? Large area for eating and drinking. Not very warm and lacking atmosphere. Good selection of ales. Decent food, pub grub; J’s meal included quite a large portion of thick cut chips... read more

As we entered the restaurant, I noticed how it desperately needed renovation. Even though it was clean (especially the toilets), because of the bad condition of the furniture and walls, it looked dirty and really untidy. When we went there, it was pretty quiet but still after a waiter took our drinks order, we were forgotten and we had to... More

Stayed a few days with freinds. Very good value for money. Loved the room. I had everything I needed. The tv could be a bit bigger for my liking. Food was fantastic. Well done chef. I would definitely visit again if I had the opportunity.

As we entered this pub that we have driven past fit the last 20+ years I was a little worried about what I was letting myself in for.... The bottom 6 inches of it were rotten. But we entered and I have to say that although there is plaster falling away from walls and bumps and scratches in almost every... More

I have previously given great reviews to this place and we have become regular customers, but our experience on our last visit didn't come up to scratch. Perhaps they're all a bit jaded after a busy December and New Year, but some bucking-up is required. On arriving and asking to eat, we took our drinks to our table and were... More

This is the second time we have called in for dinner on our way home from gatwick. There is easy parking behind the hotel, service is quick and friendly and the food is definitely home cooked. Both steak and ale and mushroom and Stilton pies met with approval. Pulled pork, and Parma wrapped monkfish also delicious. Not expensive and will... More

We were a large group and since I am able to enjoy any food it must be brought to your attention the following if you have a restricted diet. After my last review, part of the family made known to me that their experience was not good and I must pass this on. "My Niece apparently had some trouble getting... More

We went to meet family for a pre Christmas get together and chose the White Swan after reading other good reviews. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to a comfortable degree. The starters arrived in good time and were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Most of us had the carvery and everyone said it was delicious with beautiful fresh firm... More

We had the whole baked Camembert, crusty bread, caramelised onion marmalade (£6.95) and the chicken liver pate, chutney and toast (£4.95) for starters. Both were very good. For mains we had the beef burger, brioche bun, onion, bacon, Monterey, crunchy peanut butter, chips (£11.95) and the 8oz rump steak, chips, mushrooms, roasted tomato (£15.95). The best thing about both dishes... More

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for an anniversary weekend (reviewed separately) and we dined in the restaurant both evenings. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink. Starters, mains and desserts were all competitively priced, in generous portions and in a very warm and cosy setting. On the drinks front I particularly enjoyed... More
