great food and drink as usual

Been a while since our last visit. Last time they had this strange idea that people would pay more for beef than the other meats. At least that idea has been binned. The peas had been under the heat lamps too long but everything else was great. Lovely pint of Doom Bar too.

Couldn't ask for any more, the carvery is what you would expect for the cost. If they increased the cost, I'm sure the food would get better but you would hardly go here for a 5* meal. The staff are friendly and local so some recognised faces in there too. Can't ask for anymore for the price..

What an awful experience!! You sit down to eat a breakfast. Eventually after 10 minutes. Someone asks for your order. You ask for the meal deal which includes a small orange juice. So you then get asked what size orange juice. So you have to repeat that you want the meal deal!!!! After then waiting for around 10 minutes for... More

All you can eat breakfast sounded good but very disappointing. The bacon was cremated, toaster was broken so had to have bread which was stale, however, replaced when complained. Food was only just warm. Requested scrambled egg but was told the trainee cooks them and he does not know he to scramble eggs! Paid 79p extra for a portion of... More

The carvery is such good value and drinks are reasonably priced too. Lovely bar and family friendly. I have been many times with friends and couldn't fault it.

At less than £4.00 for a smaller carvery and lttle more if you want to include beef (don,t inform you of that till you order) you get just what you pay for...Go in the busy period and you have to quew, but at least there is a bigger turnover of food, hence, its normally hot.,not so when you dine off peak, when... Been here quite a few times and I still enjoy it. The carvery is dry good and you get a good enough portion. Then you get to fill your plate with veg and whatever else! Puddings are good too. Can't really complain really.

Very friendly service, both on the phone in the morning & especially from the chef! Although renate the bar lady was a bit grumpy. The chef was great with the kids, helpful and knowledgeable when I asked him questions too. Food- hot, fresh, could perhaps fo with more choice but for the money, the taste (lovely!) and how full we... More

It takes ages to get served at the bar. The bar staff are friendly and polite. They really put in 100% to get to all as soon as possible, but as there are only two of them, they just can't keep up. It is a shame really.

Onestly I don't even know where to begin. Food cold, new potatoes overcoocked and horrible taste. Onion rings ? onion??? just batter. 45 minutes waiting for 2 main courses ( two simple chickens not even roasted) and pub not busy at all. A couple next to us has waited 40 minuter for a portion of onion rings. Never again. Not... More
