Itihaas is a stunning restaurant where contemporary meets traditional. No expense has been spared in achieving this, and as you step into this two million pounds restaurant, you will certainly see just that. The decor is clean and crisp with plate glass and slate finished walls. This smart and sophisticated interior is complimented by the 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors. Downstairs, the Maharaja Suite which also seats 80 is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and decorated with more Indian treasures. To complete the real ambience, behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room which seats 12, complete with a bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!Cuisine in this fine establishment is created by award winning chefs and staff who come from Indian Five-Star Hotel backgrounds. They have a single aim - to be able to deliver the authentic Royal Indian dining experience to its patrons with utmost courtesy and hospitality. The menu will take you on a culinary journey through the North of India with a couple of stops through Kenya and vibrant Mumbai. At this royal eatery, indulgence is paramount.

Tasty lunch time menu

I was taken here by some friends from work. We all had Thali and what a tasty treat this is.A tray of specially prepared complimentary dishes. Perfect for a business lunch or just for pleasure and company.

Booked online at short notice. No problems with online booking. 7.30 booking on a Saturday, restaurant moderately busy on arrival. Greeted and seated in about 5 minutes, friendly and efficient. More limited menu than often seen, usually a good thing. Lots of familiar dishes with extra twists. Ordered lamb rogan josh, lamb shank with Indian rum, 2 different types of... More

We hade Masala Champay and Ayurved Jhinga which were nice. We also had Keema Mattar Punjabi which we liked the most Mango lassi was good. Enviroment is nice, but I would not like to have a table at the underground. Service I think should have some more attention for the customers. All in all is pretty good. But also pretty... More

After being informed that this is a "Top End" Indian restaurant, I decided to book a table for two for my partners birthday on 6th Feb 2016. On arrival there was a cool reception from the staff. We were shown to a table at the far end of the restaurant right next to the disabled lift access door, which meant... More

We tried this restaurant last night and am sorry to say the service was poor and disorganised and the food ordinary. Something has gone wrong at this establishment. My partner and I booked a table at 8pm on Friday night and were mildly surprised as the restaurant wasn't too busy No body greeted us as we arrived or offered a... More

I was in Birmingham on business and thought I would give Itihaas a try as I normally eat at Asha's which unfortunately was full. I was given a table and sat down the service was terrible. Food silently plonked on table possibly a murmur and I was then just ignored for the main portion of the evening. Nearly 15 minutes... More

Having been introduced to the restaurant by a good friend, a family visit was organised and did not disappoint. Following a very friendly welcome, we were seated and ordered drinks which were served quickly. We left the choice of food to our waiters and were served a superb variety of starters and mains which dictated we visit again!! Our waiters... More
