Itihaas is a stunning restaurant where contemporary meets traditional. No expense has been spared in achieving this, and as you step into this two million pounds restaurant, you will certainly see just that. The decor is clean and crisp with plate glass and slate finished walls. This smart and sophisticated interior is complimented by the 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors. Downstairs, the Maharaja Suite which also seats 80 is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and decorated with more Indian treasures. To complete the real ambience, behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room which seats 12, complete with a bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!Cuisine in this fine establishment is created by award winning chefs and staff who come from Indian Five-Star Hotel backgrounds. They have a single aim - to be able to deliver the authentic Royal Indian dining experience to its patrons with utmost courtesy and hospitality. The menu will take you on a culinary journey through the North of India with a couple of stops through Kenya and vibrant Mumbai. At this royal eatery, indulgence is paramount.

Had a wonderful meal at this brasserie which we found by chance. Highly recommended. Open kitchen style, clean restaurant and friendly, helpful staff and best of all was the fantastic food. Had makani murgh with glass of white wine and price was an extremely reasonable £15. Softest, tastiest chicken ever! Will definitely be back next time I am in Birmingham... More

One of our favourite resturants. Always good food with discrete service and really consistent whenever you go. By far the best Indian resturant within the city business district.

Absolutely dreadful service. Finally offered a drink and asked for popadums. Got our drinks eventually even though we were sitting in front of the bar. 45 mins later still nothing. At table next to us, one couple who had been eating main course when we arrived. They finished their meal, paid and left. Another couple came and were brought drinks... More

I came here with hubby for a romantic dinner. The service was ok and the food was good in sufficient portions. They had a sort of indian theme in the restaurant and tried to create a story with their menu which was nice. However the food was a bit overpriced but on par with a good indian, its just that... Was not allowed to order off the main a la carte menu, was told we could only select off the set Valentine's menu (despite the fact that I had not made reservations for specifically for Valentine's). Being vegetarians, the only options we had were paneer for starters and main course (although the waitress did accommodate us slightly with mains). The... More

Overall was a very disappointing experience. The service above all was terrible. The employees were all very friendly, just clueless. We counted and had 5 different waiters throughout the night, which was surprising as when we needed a new drink etc there was only ever one waiter walking around. So not sure how the system is set up here. It... More
