Itihaas is a stunning restaurant where contemporary meets traditional. No expense has been spared in achieving this, and as you step into this two million pounds restaurant, you will certainly see just that. The decor is clean and crisp with plate glass and slate finished walls. This smart and sophisticated interior is complimented by the 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors. Downstairs, the Maharaja Suite which also seats 80 is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and decorated with more Indian treasures. To complete the real ambience, behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room which seats 12, complete with a bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!Cuisine in this fine establishment is created by award winning chefs and staff who come from Indian Five-Star Hotel backgrounds. They have a single aim - to be able to deliver the authentic Royal Indian dining experience to its patrons with utmost courtesy and hospitality. The menu will take you on a culinary journey through the North of India with a couple of stops through Kenya and vibrant Mumbai. At this royal eatery, indulgence is paramount.

Itihaas: Delicious food, but stop stealing my poppadoms!

Enjoyed a meal here after taking a late train up from London on Friday night for a friends wedding. Delicious, with a great, varied and thoughtful vegetarian section. I can't wait to return, even if the service was a bit hit and miss. Check out my full review (and to read about a poppadom-based... read more

The majority of restaurants that advertise as Indian food, are usually Bangladeshi, which is fine if you want a standard curry. Itihaas is not like this whatsoever, have spent a lot of time in Mumbai it was really lovely to visit a restaurant that is food you would find in India. It is a tad pricey but worth it. I... More

What a treat. A break in a long and intense meeting to have lunch in this wonderful restaurant. The decor is fabulous. Amazing old pictures from the days of King George V. Wonderful wooden artefacts from India. As for the food, I had the Executive Thali. A delicious selection of small bowls: lamb, chicken, prawn, dhal, rice, naan and a... More

Came here for a birthday meal for my cousin. I pre-booked online. When we arrived there, the waiter was quick to greet us and sit us down. Too quick that I never had chance to tell them that I'd already made a reservation and that instead of four people it was now three. The restaurant was dead for 7:00pm so... More
