Description: Itihaas is a stunning restaurant where contemporary meets traditional. No expense has been spared in achieving this, and as you step into this two million pounds restaurant, you will certainly see just that. The decor is clean and crisp with plate glass and slate finished walls. This smart and sophisticated interior is complimented by the 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors. Downstairs, the Maharaja Suite which also seats 80 is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and decorated with more Indian treasures. To complete the real ambience, behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room which seats 12, complete with a bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!Cuisine in this fine establishment is created by award winning chefs and staff who come from Indian Five-Star Hotel backgrounds. They have a single aim - to be able to deliver the authentic Royal Indian dining experience to its patrons with utmost courtesy and hospitality. The menu will take you on a culinary journey through the North of India with a couple of stops through Kenya and vibrant Mumbai. At this royal eatery, indulgence is paramount.

This is a review of the concession in Birmingham Selfridges rather than the main restaurant. I like eating in the food hall at Selfridges. It's a really buzzy place and I love the atmosphere. There are a number of different concessions of which Itihaas is one. I had their lunch deal of a curry, rice, naan and a drink for... More

My partner booked an overnight stay nearby knowing of my love for genuine Indian food, something sadly I can’t get in my home town of Grimsby. Having checked Tripadvisor I compiled a shortlist of restaurants, Jyoti’s Pushkar, Ashas and Itihaas. Frankly not a fag paper between them so I chose Itihaas. First point which caused some confusion, there are 2... More

Five star service with a personal welcome from the manager on arrival, it's the little things that make all the difference - My wife and I were treated exceptionally well, with some great individual dishes that you just cant get at other Indian restaurants in Birmingham, for the less adventurous there are still traditional Indian dishes, I would recommend asking... Visited Itihaas at Selfridges with two of my work friends recently. Itihaas certainly didn't fail to impress! We were greeted very welcomely and professionally by the manager himself who then showed us to our seats. We decided to treat ourselves with a glass of prosecco and some fries before our mains came. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh which came... More

I happened to be here with a group of 10 people. an open and welcoming atmosphere. I informed the staff about my preferences (non meat) and as if all staff knew, with every dish (starter, main) I got informed about the fact it contained meat or not. The variety of tastes, spicy, but not too!!, presentation .. it was a... More

Having visited the Itihaas Brassarie at Selfridges I decided to ask a colleague to join me for trying the business lunch menu at Itihaas Restauarant and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We both had the Executivethali (pre plated meal) £12.95 which consisted of 6 small bowls (1.Karahi Maha Jingah..King Prawns...2.Makhani Murgh..Chicken....3.Lamb Rogan Josh....4.Makhani Dhal..Mixed lentils...5.Rangey Chawal..Basmati rice...6.Rhangey Raitha...Yoghurt) and Naan.... We visited on a family get-together on the recommendation of someone who lives in the area, and weren't disappointed. This was a Saturday (31 May), though the place wasn't very busy. Despite what others have said, we found the service to be good - attentive without being obtrusive. To us 'out-of-towners' the location seemed unusual, some way out of the... More
