Itihaas is a stunning restaurant where contemporary meets traditional. No expense has been spared in achieving this, and as you step into this two million pounds restaurant, you will certainly see just that. The decor is clean and crisp with plate glass and slate finished walls. This smart and sophisticated interior is complimented by the 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors. Downstairs, the Maharaja Suite which also seats 80 is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and decorated with more Indian treasures. To complete the real ambience, behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room which seats 12, complete with a bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!Cuisine in this fine establishment is created by award winning chefs and staff who come from Indian Five-Star Hotel backgrounds. They have a single aim - to be able to deliver the authentic Royal Indian dining experience to its patrons with utmost courtesy and hospitality. The menu will take you on a culinary journey through the North of India with a couple of stops through Kenya and vibrant Mumbai. At this royal eatery, indulgence is paramount.

Loved it

We've visited here 3 times and now and each time the food has been simply divine. The service, I have to say, on the 2nd visit wasn't brilliant, but on the 1st and our latest visit, they didn't put a foot wrong. There's so much to choose from, it's difficult to narrow it down but we finally managed... read more

We can't get enough of this restaurant, the food is always consistent with a great authentic Indian taste. Warm welcome and superb hospitality, highly recommended. A big thank you to Ajay for looking after us. See you soon. Paul and Yaz :-)

My husband and I visited Itihaas again last week for lunch and just like the first time we visited, everything was absolutely superb. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. We cannot find fault at all with Itihaas, long may it continue.

Good food. Some unusual choices on the menu. Reasonable price. Good service. Visit for the 2nd time - worth doing!

Service was terrible right from when we stepped in the door. Bartender showed us to our table and only offered me a drink then merrily went on his way to fetch it and only 1 drinks menu .. Food was sloppily put together .. my starter of prawns was cremated n all I could test was charcoal .. see pic... More

Booked well in advance and left very disappointed! Starters weren't terrible but the rest of the meal left us wanting. Service was also lacking. Would not go back and would definitely not recommend!

Starters and mains were good but the experience was spoilt by poor service. Took them an age to come over once we had sat down to get a drinks order and then it felt like we were doing them a favour all night by being there. There are better Indian restaurants to go to in Birmingham. I won't be going... More

Service was slow, starter was excellent however mains were absolutely average. When I reported this to our waiters (who didn't ask how our meal was) they were disinterested. I paid the bill in full only to avoid embarrassing my fiancee and left - we will not be back!

After seeing this wonderful restaurant on BBC2's The Service with Michel Roux we decided to visit and it was well worth the 4hr round trip as we were truly delighted by the experience. We used 'Bookatable' to make a lunch reservation however their web site gave us the wrong times but a member of staff from Itihass rang us that... More

A wonderful Indian restaurant with a delicious sophisticated menu, sumptuous surroundings and attentive service. This is now the best Indian Restaurant in Birmingham currently. Fabuluos dishes, some of which were entirely new to me. Beautifully cooked and presented, in a luxurious well appointed restaurant. Highly recommended.
