Good Italian with a twist

Staying in Birmingham last weekend but wanting somewhere out of the city centre that served on a Sunday evening. Once again TripAdvisor to the rescue. A very unprepossessing venue; on the main Hagley Road just down from the Bear at Bearwood. Thought it might be noisy but not at all. Just a good... read more

Treated my friend to a Birthday meal because she liked Italian food. Good service, good food, good company! The only criticism is the lighting in the ladies toilets. There was a main light where the sink & dryer is but in the actual toilet, there was no light.

It was my birthday recently and after trying a few local restaurants to see if they could accommodate large parties I found Casa Italia extremely helpful and accommodating. We had the room upstairs and booked it for 50 people. We all preordered and when we got there they were so organised it made my night enjoyable. Considering there were 50... More

I have just read some of the reviews on trip advisor and it has prompted me to put my own on. I have been using this restaurant for over 23 years. Previous owner from 20+ years ago and current one. I have NEVER been disappointed. Garlic bread is the best I have tasted. I travel to Italy alot and this... More

I chose this resturant for myself and my family, as a valentine treat. I rang pretty last minute and was lucky to get a reservation. When we arrived, I couldn't help but agree with the previous reviews. The outside wasn't very inviting. We were seated downstairs which was quite small. Drinks and food order was taken quickly. Quite a long... More

Used to go here frequently 15 years back so unfair to directly compare, but a trip down memory lane was the only reason we booked. Still a strong menu of traditional Italian food and wines of which we chose calzone and a rare steak, both cooked well and presented to appeal. Service was friendly and knowledgable of the menu with... More

Visited this restaurant tonight with a friend. My first visit and I must say I was impressed. The service and food both 5 stars. Traditional Italian food with lots of love. I had the calzone which was made to order just how I liked it. A bit of a fuss pot sometimes and nothing was a problem! Also had a... More

We used to live just around the corner from this restaurant and visited on a weekly basis, now we live in Devon and have been three times over the last twelve years. As you can guess we used to find it fantastic and hence the regular visits. However, over our last three visits, things have been on a gradual decline.... More

What a shambles. We had a table booked for 10 of us 2 weekends before Christmas. It started well, starters were nice and initially service was good. Quite a few of us ordered the £20 fillet steak. When it arrived, two of us politely said that our steak was too overcooked for medium rare. (My friend next to me had... More

We have eaten at the Casa Italia many times over the past 12 years and we always have a great night there, whether we go as a couple, for a family meal or with a large party. The food is always absolutely delicious with ample choice to suit all tastes, the wine is fine and the service is just perfect... More
