The Karczma is a traditional Polish restaurant, bar and grill located in the heart of Birmingham, just 5min walk from both the Bull Ring Shopping Centre and Moor Street Rail Station. Don't be fooled by the drab exterior, get through the door and find yourself enveloped in comfort. This cozy little den is quirkily decorated with colourful murals and wooden benches with snuggly sheepskin throws. The service was welcoming and entertaining. The food was delicious but be warned, you will need your appetite! The portions are big and the food is... More

Booked for a large party of us. Lovely welcome and the table was set out lovely. Food lovely, some of my friends portions though looked big enough to serve to. Warm and cosy. Not cheap, but well worth the money. We will be going back later in the year. anted to try the Polish apple cake, but did not have... More

I was very excited about trying this restaurant; unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. Although the restaurant itself is charming and cosy, the staff were distinctly unwelcoming and cold. The mead was nice to try and the menu sounded delicious, but both mine and my partners mains looked unappetising and tasted bland, we did not manage to eat... More

Thank you from the reviews and I am very sorry that your visit was unsuccessful. In fact, in one day we had a problem with flies. I have no idea how this happened but was not a problem for several hours that was removed very quickly. I suspect that it was the fault of the staff who left behind open... More

This was our first time visiting The Karczma and it did not disappoint! The decor was lovely, warm and welcoming and the staff were really friendly - advising on particular dishes and making the experience even better. We ordered some dumplings to start with - the mixed dumplings were really tasty, the potato ones were a little stodgy for my... More

It has been 6-7 months since our last trip to The Karczma and like every time we go we wonder why we have left it for so long. The greeting is always welcoming, the ambiance cannot be bettered and the food is truly authentic, delicious and surprising in how well it is prepared. As a family meal we explored many... More

What a find. Some of the best Polish food I've had outside Poland. It's a few steps down into what I think is a Polish centre near New Street station and you are in a hunting lodge with bar, wooden benches and luxuriant sheep's fleeces. Then the rich traditional food, cool, but mercifully not frozen, vodkas and easy going service... More

At the start I was uncertain of whether to go into the restaurant as from a distance it doesn't look very 'flash'. However, once I went inside, the decor was so convincing, that I thought I was in a different country! The food was wonderfully large, which is to my liking as I eat a lot of food, and it... More
