Lively, but good service and food

Our previous visit here as a couple was a Saturday afternoon. Food was excellent and we had no trouble getting a table. Having phoned previously to reserve a table for four on a Wednesday evening, I was told they could not take anymore reservations, but just turn up and hope for the best. We... read more

After a rather long walk in the hills we found ourselves in the hare and hounds on New Year's Day for lunch and a few drinks. The place was busy and had a real friendly atmosphere to it. On ordering food we were told there would be a bit of a wait due to them being busier than they thought... More

Wasn't welcomed at all from any staff and no real friendliness when ordering. Very perfunctory communication when placing my order, the lady hardly raised her head from the till screen. Ordered steak meal and two steak pies. I was told steak was tasty enough but nothing special. Both of us was let down by "the award winning pie" (as stated... More

The food was hot and came quickly and was absolutely delicious. So good we ordered more chips!! This restaurant is a lot better qualityso if... More

Went here and had a three course meal of the Christmas menu. The staff were very friendly and very organised considering there were almost 30 of us, and it wasn't too pricey. The starter of breaded mushrooms was average and my beef Wellington main was nice apart from the roast potatoes which tasted like under cooked frozen potatoes, but I... More

This is a nice traditional pub with open fires and a comfy atmosphere. And the food is what you would want from pub food. Never disappointed so far.

The food and drinks are reasonably priced. Every now and then there is live music at the venue. There is a heated smoking area and seating in the garden area. Parking is available although this is difficult on busy nights. Close to public transport. There is a Chinese restaurant opposite as well as a corner shop near by. The customer... More
