Visited this restaurant recently for Sunday lunch (and anniversary). This was our first visit and received an effusive welcome from front of house and shown straight to our table at the back of the restaurant. Nicely decorated, minimalist style with plenty of room at and around the table. The menu was explained ably by the waiting staff, a set four... More

I ate here with my husband. To be honest we are very fed up with taster menus and much prefer a traditional 3 courses. Having said that the food was truly superb. We enjoyed and savoured every delicious mouthful. I thought the price was good/reasonable compared with other restaurants we've been to with taster menus. So that's the food. The... More

I've eaten at Carters quite a bit since it opened, I really should have written this review sooner! It's impossible to find fault. From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel so welcome by everyone working front of house. This continues until the moment you leave with attentive but never overbearing service. They take the time to... More

Heard so many good things about this place Excellent service and great theatre as each course is served and explained. Unfortunately we found the food a little too 'clever'. When you are told that there is only one menu to eat you expect a wow factor. It didnt come, Cooking sous-vide may be all the rage but it does nothing... More

This will be the forth time we've eaten out in the last few weeks, once at a top Birmingham non-Michelin starred restaurant and twice at Michelin starred restaurants (one in the Midlands and one in London) Carter's is easily as good as all of them, even the one belonging to culinary royalty! Price wise is not cheap, but it's good... More

In the last month I have also visited Adams and L'enclume. Both were outstanding experiences. I went to carters last night. Whilst it was very good I felt that there was just something missing which didn't bring it to the same level as those restaurants and other Michelin stars that I have dined in. The food on the whole was... More

I took a friend to Carters for the tasting menu as a birthday treat, after seeing several excellent reviews online. Considering the substantial cost of the evening, we were very disappointed - the lamb came with uncooked fat, the "xl" scallop (for which we paid £12 extra) was just an average scallop in a bland sauce, and the dessert was... We booked for a birthday treat as we had heard good things about this place from friends. We went for Sunday lunch which was, in a nutshell, fantastic. They served Yorkshire Puddings in place of bread and cauliflower puree in place of butter, unusual idea, but it worked really well. All the food was of an exceptional standard, with lots... More
