Me and my wife visited to be wowed and amazed by the pres-elected menu, we were both extremely disappointed, we paid £140 for finger food, ALL the portions were designed for kids, we were both looking forward to the Monk-fish, we paid an extra for this which gave us the illusion of getting something worthwhile only to find it was... Went here with our firms and never been before. The food is served in small portions but absolutely gorgeous. I tried food there I would never have dreamt of trying like chestnut broth and pheasant dumplings and omg they were lovely. Everything was set our superb and tasted excellent. Would definitely recommend a try. May be a little pricey but... More

Really great food, high quality presentation and taste, very friendly waiting staff, good wine list. Attentive to customer needs, one gent asked for the music to be turned down and it was immediately done. Very much looking forward to returning! :)

Had a great time, staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is stunning. Can't wait to go again! Loved the home chocolates served in vintage tins too!

Ate on a Saturday lunchtime and enjoyed a very relaxed meal with good service. The food is good, well presented and undoubtedly fresh. They could perhaps consider slightly more generous portions given the prices charged- the only course that was a generous portion was the desert, however as lunchtime is a fixed price I am perhaps being slightly unfair .... This is probably the best meal we've had in any Birmingham restaurant. With two young children, our evenings out as a couple are few and far between; this was one that will live long in the memory. Exceptionally friendly and attentive (but not overbearing) staff, who helpfully talked through each dish as it came. They must do this all the... More

The food was ingenious and interesting in presentation and taste. The ambience was frankly disappointing. Chairs were very uncomfortable and layout was more akin to café than an restaurant for special occasions. With attention to interior décor it could become special. I did appreciate the staff and food. Thank you.

Mid week visit for the evening tasting menu. Lovely service from start to finish. Needless to say the food was outstanding, the chicken liver cereal in particular stood out for me. A small venue with attentive staff and careful attention to detail. Thank you for a great evening.

This was our first visit to Carters (19.11.2014), having read the predominately favourable reviews, we were hopeful of a flavoursome lunch for two. The welcome by Holly front of house was warm and friendly without being too “oily” as is often the case in some establishments. The restaurant itself is comfortable and relaxed we were seated immediately and felt at... More

Good food at best, not knockout. Nice wine selection, nice surroundings and friendly staff, but I felt the food was a bit of a let down. Set taster menu and I felt some of the dishes were very bland. Some of the flavour combinations very strange and just didnt work to bring the flavour out of some of the dishes.
