Very high standard

I eat a lot of Indian food. I spent 18 months in India. I can usually tell the quality of the forthcoming main course by the standard of the starter mixed kebabs. Shabar did not disappoint. By far the best Balti restaurant I have ever been in the Chicken Thawar is amazing and the chicken chats are brilliant. There were 6 of us having two courses and wine and drinks and the bill came to £96.00 unbelievable!! I just love this place, great service great food and amazing value.

The Shabar was recommended by our hotel at the airport when we asked them for a good Indian restaurant. Not far away (5-10 minutes by taxi), it is located still in the wider airport area. The staff was very friendly and quick and we got a lot of support to find the right choice of three different main dishes (lamb,... More

We arrived at 8.20, we were seated at 8.40. The waiter took us to the table and waited half an hour before asking if ready to order, then a further 20 minutes for a starter, in which dishes arrived in seperate times. An overall waiting time of 1.5 hours for the bland main course cooked unprofessionally with no taste. We... More

When ever we visit Birmingham we always make a point of going to this restaurant, We have never been disappointed with the food and always over order so we can take the rest home and enjoy it another day. My Wife's family owned an Indian restaurant for over twenty years and Shabar is the best restaurant we have found since.... More

4 of us ate at the Shabar on a Sunday evening. From the smell outside alone, we knew we were in for a treat! The staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to navigating the extensive menu. On the recommendation of our waiter we had the mixed starter for 4, which had a little taste of everything (chicken... More

We stayed nearby for a Birthday night away and decided to go here for dinner as we had seen great reviews! We had not booked and could see they were really busy but they managed to seat us. The service was very friendly, the food was tasty and the bill was great value for money. Would highly recommend.
