Description: Situated on St Pauls Church square, Andersons Bar and Grill is found in the interesting surroundings of former 18th century cellars. However this restaurant is as far from a dingy basement bar as it is possible to be lush, sophisticated dcor brings light and space to the brick arched room, changing displays of art is displayed on the walls and theres a definite buzz to the atmosphere. With a dedication to providing great value food in a relaxed setting along with top quality service, Andersons Bar and Grill is already making its mark on the local dining scene. The food, sourced locally is of course hearty grill fayre but presented with a touch of class so even old favourites such as Barnsley chop or grilled plaice are actually rather special.

We decided to have a meal at Andersons before holiday thye following day. The food was excellent as ever, the steaks perfectly cooked and my wife was particularly impressed with the monklfish that came in the surf and turf. It isn't cheap but it is worth paying for quality food

Visited on Saturday night to celebrate a family birthday. We were in a group of 8. The service was outstanding, they staff couldn't do enough to help us. Whilst we were looking over the menu the staff came round to check if we needed any guidance with the different cuts of meat. We had a few different starters, the Whitebait... More

We visited Andersons for a late dinner on a Saturday night. We were early so we had a drink at the bar while we waited. My partner was particularly impressed with the shipyard pale ale. We were shown to a fairly large table for two which made a lot of sense when the food arrived! The staff were friendly and... More

Some amazing steak, I had the mixed grill, some of the best lamb I have had in a long while, we all had steak, as, or as part of our mains, each was cooked perfectly to the request. Service was excellent, nothing was rushed and always friendly. For the quality of the food and the standard of service, this place... More

I used to live in Birmingham a couple of years back and recently returned to visit some friends. Birmingham is a fast changing city at the moment but I was glad to find this restaurant exactly as we left it. The restaurant is set in a basement, which may sound a little dark, but it makes for a great atmosphere... More

There are many more positives than negatives here. Let's deal with the positives: - Centrally located just off St Paul's Square - Air conditioned - Nice cellar ambience - Attentive staff - Good food: - I had 12 oysters for a starter and they were plump and very tasty (12 is greedy I know but I like oysters in the... Went here as was recommended and told the steaks and scallops are really good. Liked the unusual feel of the underground and was politely greeted at the bar and we sat and had our drink then moved to my table, which should have been a more private table as request but we ended sitting in the aisle, but thought it... My boyfriend chose this bar for my birthday meal - and what a brilliant choice! We shared the steak platter and it was beautifully cooked and well presented. We loved it that much we have been several times since. The service is excellent and being in the cellar adds a lovely touch. Well recommended.

First visit to the place since it has been Anderson's and we booked online for an 8pm midweek sitting. All the signs were looking good as it was fairly busy and we were a little bit early but table was already ready for us. Excellent choice of wine, the Rioja was so nice we (ok, I) had to have a... Although it seemed a shame to be in a basement venue on a lovely sunny day once we were down there it really didnt matter. The restaraunt has been beautifully done out since it was The Bucklemakers. We had three great wines especially the german riesling, lovely and crisp and of course a malbec with our steaks. My chicken liver... More
