Decor outweighs the Food and Service sadly

I love this place, you certainly can't go wrong here if you feel like traditional food cooked like "mums". We tried the lamb chops and chicken pakora, the flavours were oozing out and we couldn't resist ordering extra portions! The lamb Karahi was really nice had that traditional flavour which I like, not the sweet type of curries you find... More

Staff here are a joke just like the service and the average food served. There are plenty of waste of space waiters that don't want to attend to you. They have no sense of urgency when you ask for anything. They casually walk around and chat away ignoring customers. Instead of making eye contact or raising your hand to get... More

It was me and my friend we went in last week to open our fasting, as he asked me to put a review through so I thought why not. He looked after us really well good service. The food could have been better, not the same standerd as when I've been before but still nice. Thanks brother Charlie

Went here to eat midweek with a group of work colleagues. We were seated quickly and between us ordered a good selection from the menu. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and everyone's plates were clean by the end. And you have to order a naan bread, they are huge and hang from a fancy contraption on the table. Would definitely... Visited Akbars for a family meal yesterday. I would say this was our worst experience of any restaurant establishment. We ordered 4 chicken Tikkas, one without spice for the kids. They bought all the dishes out seperately and needless to say many of the party started eating. we realised they had given us 4 spicy chicken Tikkas, so what does... More

A horrible meal out.... The waiter started by not giving us the number of popadums and the night went drastically down hill from there. My meal, named after the restaurant (Akbar-e-balti) so I expected something good, was horrendous: undercooked potatoes and questionable meat. I thought they might be able to save the meal with dessert but we were handed the... More

As a brummy, a good curry is worth raving about, so after hearing good things about akbars I was looking forward to my visit. As others have noted it is very dark at the tables, lovely for a romantic meal, but as a table of 20 it segregated each end of the table from one another. The service was prompt... More
