Food was amazing

Just over the road from John Lewis we went for dinner on a Friday night. The place was really quiet but we were looked after very well. The food came quickly and was delicious. You must try the special aubergine with garlic which was the best thing I've eaten for a long time. This place seems very... read more

Seemed like a family run restaurant which isn't a problem but we wasn't made to feel welcome. As we don't speak Chinese the menu was a bit confusing and the waitress didn't bother trying to explain what things were, just pointed to pictures. So we ended up just ordering what we thought looked nice.Quite pricey, wouldn't go again just because of the ignorance... More

After a visit to the nearby Electric Cinema we chose this restaurant, from a row of three Chinese food outlets in Station Street, simply because it was full of Chinese people. We were a little nervous at first, especially since the tables had inset hotplates at each place setting. My husband had eaten hotpot-style when in Vietnam so although we... More

Firstly if you're wanting English type Chinese food, then this isn't the place for you. If you want authentic Chinese food, as eaten by Chinese people, then it is!! This place was a real find, and where Trip Advisor really came good for us. I ate here with a group of work colleagues as we were all struggling to decide... More

If you want to experience eating Chinese food just as it is in China, then go here! I lived in Beijing for 2 years and have to say that this is the most genuine Chinese food that I have come across outside of China, and we were delighted we stumbled across it. Restaurants like these are everywhere in China, serving... More

Randomly picked this place whilst waiting for a train and was very pleasantly surprised. Had a mixed seafood dish and stir fried squid. Both were excellent - tasted really fresh and were not overly greasy like Chinese food in the UK often can be. Most of the other patrons were oriental, which always bodes well.

This wasn't where we were planning but as we were going to the Electric Cinema we thought we would try it. My partner is from China, although not Northern Chinese as this place is, the recognition of authenticity was good. Also it was full of Chinese so a good omen. To start e were a little confused as the young... More

unless you know what your doing and have the patience don't do the hotpot. You basically cook your own at the table. Went in in and costume RS were completely Chinese, a good sign. Then realised that it's because this Chinese caters more for there own than the western palate. I had a safe bet, I thought, sechean chicken but... More

Really enjoyed the food at this authentic Chinese restaurant, making a real change from all the same rather dull Westernised fare. The food was exceeding tasty and still something Westerners could appreciate (we were the only non-oriental people!). Very good value for money. The menu shows pictures and the descriptions are written in both Chinese and English - go on,... More

I visited Han Dynasty because it was practically next-door to the Electric Cinema. Part of me wanted to avoid it because it was clearly a Chinese restaurant with an emphasis on food as the Chinese like it; I wasn't going to find chicken chow mein on this menu. But, one can't be ignorant forever and so I had a go.... More
