Good food in a great location

We wondered whether we should book a table as we were on our narrowboat and hoped to moor at The Cape overnight. Very pleased we did as the place was rammed and no wonder. We were lucky with the weather and the pub had a music night but the food was excellent. The spare ribs are the biggest and... read more

We arranged to go to the Cape on Sunday 20 June 2015. Steve the manager was very helpful in arranging a close mooring for us. I am oxygen dependant and needed to have the cylinders exchanged so Steve made it easy for those to be delivered and gave exact instructions for the delivery van to find us. We then had... More

Staff were very welcoming and they gave us very friendly and efficient service. The food was excellent although several items on the menu were not available (at 7.30)pm, there was also only one vegetarian option on the starters and the mains.

Thanks for your review. Apologies if we had ran out of some of our food items on a busy night. All our food is cooked fresh to order, nothing is bought in or processed so occasionally we can run out. We are about to re launch our menu with more vegetarian options, however our starters have garlic mushrooms, baked camembert... More

We stopped here and moored up for Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The menu choices weren't extensive - pretty much roast dinner or fish and chips - but it was all served promptly and everything was totally delicious. The fish and chips were lovely and my husband and friends loved the roasts, both the beef and pork. It was... More

Thanks for your lovely review. Sundays our menu is slightly smaller but as everything on our menu is cooked fresh to order (Nothing processed or bought it) we prefer to concentrate on quality rather than quantity where our menu is concerned. We hop to see you again soon. More

Not All It Seems..... During our boating break this week we took up the opinion of the J. M Pearson & Sons Guide and moored up and visited the Cape of Good Hope. Having read the write ups we were looking forward to the evening. The welcome was both friendly and warm with a good selection of ales for us... More

Stopped off with friends whilst boating. The Cape is an absolute must before or after tackling Hatton Locks! The cask ales were of excellent quality and the Cape is most deserving of its place in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide. We sampled several and we thorough enjoyed them! We then took to the dining room and had Sunday lunch. The food... More

We where staying in a Premier Inn, just a 5-10 minute walk away from the canal this pub is located on. The bar staff here are very proud of their pub, and it shows with the lovely welcome you get on arrival. The food was good value. Monday to Thursday you can have 2 meals and 2 drinks from a... More

A warm friendly welcome in a traditional canal-side pub. Local beers with a selection of half a dozen real ales. Great food at very reasonable prices with excellent service. A proper pub, serving proper beer and proper food. What's not to like?

Right next to the canal, this pub is a little hidden from the street, but it is a really good find. The food here is very good and made fresh, most who gather here are locals - always a good sign! While you find what you'd expect on a pub menu, there are also some more restaurant type dishes and... More
