Having discovered this pub as part of the Real Ale trail in 2013 it took a long time for a return visit, the next visit will definitely be sooner rather than later. There were a large selection of real ales available, and a selection of hot drinks if required. We both ordered hot baguettes which were very fresh and full... More

A very warm welcome . Party of 11 of us (Age teens to 80) catered for easily, in a friendly and welcoming manner. Food was faultless and the sorbets between courses a welcome surprise. A wonderful Christmas family meal.Would definitely go again.

I love it here, I love the cosy atmosphere, the staff are friendly, and the food is really good quality hearty cuisine - Sunday Lunch is a must - nice big tables, plenty of space, relaxed, no pressure - reasonable value. Good selection of local beers too! Harrys Heifer a must...

Seriously, that was great. First of all, what a nice location! The pub is directly next to the canal with two ships directly in front of it. Staff was super friendly and helpful with my choices - I decided to give the Scottish Egg a shot, and oh my! That was seriously the most delicious thing I've had while in... More

Sadly my recent trip to the Cape confirmed my worst fears, namely, it just isn't the little gem it once was. Gone are the days of simple straight forward pub grub, which have now been replaced by fancy gastro style delhi of the day offerings. The friendly local atmosphere and associated banter that was once open to anyone, have been... More

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at this little out of the way pub. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was expansive and the high quality of the food was greatly appreciated. A small local establishment with an encouraging ambience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A bit out of the way unless you're a Narrow Boater but well worth seeking out. The beers were varied but superbly served and the food was well above what you normally expect in a pub. The staff are at least as good as the food and the beer

An excellent no nonsense, value for money pub, perched on the towpath alongside the Grand Union canal. Great place for dinner if you are visiting Stratford-upon-Avon or Warwick castle. Wide variety of real ales and a great place to bring visitors to UK. I was with some Catalans, and they 'wolfed' everything. No recommendation better than that! We shared a... More

Great pint especially for the first one off on a quiet Thursday lunchtime, always the sign of a well looked after cellar and looks a well deserved entry in Camra 2015 Good Beer Guide.

Party of 8 last Sunday for an early meal. We were asked to pre book but they didn't tell us that most of the regular menu is not available on Sundays, just Sunday Roasts, so we had beef pork and chicken as well as chicken "goujons" (aka nuggets). Oh well, can't beat an English Sunday roast...but you could beat this... More

You are the type of customer who gives tripadvisor a bad name. You are complaining about a booking and an order someone else made. Our menus are clearly printed on our website and our Sunday offerings detailed. How can you say you did not know this when it was ordered in advance? We do have options as well as the... More
