Disappointing

This is the third time we have visited and had the 9 course tasting menu with matched wines. This costs £90 per person, not including service. 29th April we went to No: 9 for my birthday treat as I had always wanted to experience a fine dining menu. We pre ordered the 5 course Spring sampling menu, every course was small and delicious. The staff were very knowledgeable about the contents and the restaurant manager Will Gordon kept an eye on the meal and topped up... More

A pre theatre dinner menu that's short but spot on and excellent value at £18 for 3 courses. Service was good but we only just made it to the theatre and had to hurry our dessert. In hindsight we shouldn't have ordered it but couldn't resist.

Popped in here on recommendation of Trip Advisor. Nice restaurant, good food and very pleasant staff. Had the pre theatre which had some good choices though with a number of tables obviously on pre theatre it could have been quicker. No time for a sweet or coffee and payment was slow with lots of tables paying at once. Need to... More

I had the 5 course Spring sampling menu. Very well cooked and presented with little surprises. Unlike other sampling menus this was quite substantial and I was struggling to finish the meat course but managed to have the delicious dessert based on rhubarb. The dining area is upstairs and has little character but the friendliness and efficiency of the waitresses... More

Wonderful meal with my sister and parents. Slightly windy and steep stairs to get up, so watch if elderly (we should have requested ground floor table). Starters and main courses were all great, served at a good pace, but then we had to wait ages for someone to appear to take sweet order. Nearly gave up. Really need to watch... More

Bit of a belated review as we ate here way back in November last year but completely forgot to write a review! My girlfriend and I were visiting Stratford for the weekend and arrived Friday lunchtime and wanted a bite to eat when stumbling across No 9. The staff were very welcoming and although had many bookings accommodated us so... More

The food here is excellent and the service second to none. A couple of very minor gripes which hopefully will be regarded as constructive - the cutlery is looking elderly and the stair rail could do with a good clean!! These small details do not detract from the very friendly atmosphere and lovely food.

Myself and my fiancée ate here for her Birthday on 25th March and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it and we enjoyed the atmosphere.  We ate from the dinner menu rather than the tasting menu as I couldn't resist the Venison special.  The food was simply sensational! I had goats cheese... More

We couldn't fault the food here, it was delicious and of great quality. Maybe it was because we were upstairs but there was no atmosphere or ambience and we left feeling the food was superb but couldn't help being a little disappointed. Service was good at it was not over-priced in any way but it just felt like something was... More
