Shabby looking but amazing food.

We booked this restaurant for 6 of us as a pre-theatre meal on a Saturday. When we entered I couldn't help but be disappointed with the decor of the restaurant. The carpets were really worn and dirty as was the window ledge behind me. However, all was forgotten when my food arrived. I had beef... read more

I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while and finally managed to book in for a meal before seeing 'Othello'. This was a mother/daughter treat and we were really pleased. One of the reasons I chose it was that the vegetarian options offered on sample menus differed from the ubiquitous mushroom risotto, goats cheese or tart. We were pleased... More

We are always on the lookout for pre-theatre when we go to Stratford, so having read positive reviews for #9, we gave it a try. It’s really very good, an excellent place for a meal before the play. We both went with the set menu (£18 for three courses) and both started with the beef kofta: a large spicy meatball... More

We had a very nice lunch. Very relaxed. Our food was well prepared. Service was quite congenial. Most of Stratford is a tourist trap, so this is a hidden gem.

We always eat here when visiting the theatre. Since we discovered this wonderful little restaurant we wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The service is attentive but unobtrusive, and the fresh food is delicious. The set menu is extremely good value for money, changes regularly, and they will even do smaller versions of dishes for younger diners. Even before the... More

Just slightly out of town No 9 is a real top place, we had the taster menu with wine, a bargain at £65 all the dishes were presented beautifully and were well cooked, mackerel had lovely crispy skin, lamb soft as butter, kidneys nice and pink, not quite michelin star but lovely just the same. Lacks atmosphere though, we went... More

A real gem, this one! Unfortunately we only discovered it the night before departure! The service is excellent and friendly, and the food is superb - not single item of our choice was less than perfect! In a town full of tatty restaurants and tourist traps of the worst kind, this is one place to go to! What is amazing... More

Thank you no.9 for an amazing night! Taster menu with wine. It was absolutely fantastic. Food was out of this world, and the matching wines with introductions was brilliant. Service was great...very helpfull from the moment we booked. Will definitely be going back to Stratford just to eat here again!

Our tour group spend an afternoon in Stratford, and while out experiencing the city, I stopped into No 9 for a lunch break. First thing you'll notice is the welcoming of the staff - they make you feel like you've made a good decision the moment you walk in. Although the seating area is small, the atmosphere is nice. I...
