Description: Situated just 2 minutes from the centre of Stratford upon Avon, and 5 minutes from the Royal Shakespeare Theatres, Il Moro is a small, intimate, family run Italian restaurant with a Sardinian twist. Chef/owner Massimiliano Melis, from Selargius, a small town in the south of Sardinia believes in serving traditional, simple, home-made Italian cuisine but also enjoys the challenge of infusing flavours from his homeland into his dishes, making Il Moro a little bit more than the average Italian restaurant.Within a cosy and personal surrounding, guests can relax amidst artwork made by the family and traditional artefacts, old photographs, plates and tapestries from Sardinia. Stepping into Il Moro is like stepping into another world - one that is steeped with tradition and has a real authentic feel but is at the same time contemporary and fresh in its approach to food and service.

I had been looking forward to going to Il Moro for some time but we thought we would wait until some of the reviews had got a little better. Sadly, I can only echo what has already been said. We had booked a table and when arriving, although there was plenty of room downstairs, the lady sort of vaguely looked... More

Had a lovely meal here with friends. The service was quick and friendly and the food was mostly very good. The duck was a little chewy and was also expensive for the size of the portion but the set menu was very reasonably priced and all other dishes were very tasty. The tiramisu was especially delicious! I would go back.

Having read earlier reviews, I was somewhat nervous that Il Moro, in its new location, would not live up to our previous experiences in its old premises. In the event, I need not have worried. The welcome was warm and the staff were attentive but by no means intrusive and definitely unhurried. The food was fresh, delicious and in a... More

Visited last Saturday and sat upstairs were there is very little atmosphere and far too many lights on. Also a lot of traffic from waiters as the kitchen is located on this floor. Looked much nicer downstairs. Food was disappointing no wow factor similar to what I have at home for a fraction of the price. Cheese portion minuscule for... More

A group of eight visited on a very busy friday. Service was generally swift but slowed down as it got busier. Many of the dishes are excellent such as the lamb and swordfish but the prawn pasta was bland. Cheese and biscuits were an outrageous £7 for a few morsels of cheese on a piece of crispbread and the chocolate... More

Il Moro has recently moved location, the new place has been brilliantly refurbished. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. This restaurant is an Italian with a Sardinian twist. Food was cooked to an very high quality. All in all this was a lovely evening.

Having enjoyed several great meals and nights at the original site we booked a table for 9 and were looking forward to another great night. Fully appreciate it takes time to get into a polished routine, at the moment service was below par, food not as good as we remember and a lack of atmosphere compared to previous site. We... More

Having raved about our visit to their previous restaurant my friend and I had very jealous spouses and so a visit to their new location was soon planned. We were very pleased to find that the personal welcome from the owner was as genuine and hospitable as before. Drinks service in the little bar area was a trifle slow but... More

Our first visit to the new venue and I must say, it's amazing! Perfect atmosphere, attentive staff and absolutely gorgeous food. A must to visit if you love real Italian food. I had a mouth watering tuna steak which was to die for, followed by the Italian panacotta.... Beautiful!
