Description: Situated just 2 minutes from the centre of Stratford upon Avon, and 5 minutes from the Royal Shakespeare Theatres, Il Moro is a small, intimate, family run Italian restaurant with a Sardinian twist. Chef/owner Massimiliano Melis, from Selargius, a small town in the south of Sardinia believes in serving traditional, simple, home-made Italian cuisine but also enjoys the challenge of infusing flavours from his homeland into his dishes, making Il Moro a little bit more than the average Italian restaurant.Within a cosy and personal surrounding, guests can relax amidst artwork made by the family and traditional artefacts, old photographs, plates and tapestries from Sardinia. Stepping into Il Moro is like stepping into another world - one that is steeped with tradition and has a real authentic feel but is at the same time contemporary and fresh in its approach to food and service.

My partner and I were introduced to the restaurant by a Travelzoo offer. We were welcomed by the charming staff Lenty and Razvan who took time to describe the specials of the day and also the à la carte menu. For the entrées we chose Calimari and Bruschetta. The Calimari came with a flavoursome garlic dip and the Gamberoni Bruschetta... More

Left to fend for myself whilst my wife hit the shops in London, I ventured further from Stratford centre than normal . I was the only diner at 7.00 pm, seems like the theatre was closed. I had the fig and Palma ham to start ,superb, and tagliattale with prawns as a main, excellent. Other diners gradually drifted in but... More

Have eaten there 3 times now and the food is very good although a limited menu. It is a small bistro/restaurant out of the way in Stratford though moving soon to a more central location. The atmosphere is pleasant due to good staff and a pleasant layout.

My husband and I visited here for lunch, after finding the restaurant via Trip Advisor. We certainly were not disappointed! We both chose the mixed seafood starter, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. However, our main courses really blew us away... I had the tagliatelle with jumbo prawns, chilli and garlic. The handmade fresh pasta was fantastic, the prawns succulent and... More

Try it... It's Sicilian and it's delicious! The family run restaurant is intimate, the food is simple but tasty and original. If you are looking for something a little different but in the same vein as a family run Italian restaurant ... You can't go far wrong! I was particularly impressed by the attitude of the owners. I had prebooked... More

Without doubt the number one restaurant in town Shortly to move to larger premises this restaurant proved a real find. This is a family run REAL Italian (Sardinian to be precise) restaurant offering excellent food and service at the highest end of expectations Pastas and breads are all home made and the choices on each of the recent two visits... Great food and friendly service, my only criticism us that I would have liked the home made bread to be warm...but that really is nit picking. We had the prawn bruschetta to start and the Parma ham/fig starter, both were stunning. My husband had the pizza of the day for main and I had the mixed seafood pasta dish, again... More

Had this restaurant not been recommended to us, we would have certainly missed the building, which looked small from the outside, but once inside it opens up to a cosy restaurant. The menu was mostly in Italian. This presented a great guessing game at first, then the waitress explained it to us as well as the specials for the day.... More
