nice change from typical Indian restaurant

Popped in here on visit to Newcastle. Most Indian restaurants in central Scotland serve Northern Indian (punjabi) style food. This was a nice change. Good variety of dishes, excellent service. A bit sweeter than the northern equivalent dishes. Fish curry was excellent.

Having been to many indian restaurants in my life, I can say this is by far the best Indian restaurant food I ate. Very pricey, but if you can afford it, I surely recommend it. However, the atmosphere is not the most lively and the Indian employees and not the best english speakers. I personally didn't mind as it went... More

This wasn't our first visit to the restaurant and we had a fairly late evening booking having been to a concert earlier that evening. We were introducing two friends to the restaurant and were a little worried that because of our late booking the food may be a little rushed. Far from it, we were taken straight to our table... We went to Rasa on Saturday night for a friends birthday meal. They specialise in food from Southern India so the menu was different to what I have typically come to expect from an Indian restaurant in the UK. The menu wasn't massive but there was a good selection and the descriptions made it all sound amazing! The pre meal... More

Four of us had dinner at Rasa on Monday and it was excellent. Unusually, this restaurant specialises in South Indian cuisine and it is quite different from the normal fare served at many "Indian" restaurants. The menu was not extensive but we all four enjoyed the food very much and the service was friendly and efficient. Give it a try,... More

Southern Indian cuisine, simply exquisite but expensive. We had the sample menu, I tried and loved food I would never normally have ordered. Fish soup, I don't even like fish, but adored this. Looking forward to returning.

After going there previously with family, I decided to go there with some friends. We were offered some premeal snacks which we gratefully accepted. It's only when the bill arrived that we realised that this was not a complimentary offering- they Could at least have mentioned this when serving it. The main course food was good and to a reasonable... More

Brilliant service, delicious food for meat eaters and vegetarians too, great surroundings, bit pricey but that included two bottles of wine, left feeling very full! Will return again.

I have been to various South Indian restaurants in the UK and often the food is just about alright. Sadly, Rasa is no different. It is just 'alright'. Hence my hunt for a good South Indian restaurant shall continue. As far as my experience is concerned, I feel the staff needs to relax a little and not walk continuously back... More
