I got more than what I expected when I ordered the masala dosa. Must have it here! The sambhar n the chutney are quite authentic and the decor n the music gives you a complete south indian experience.

I went here on New Year's Eve and had a very good night! The food was awesome, I didn't choose what I had as we just ordered an array of different dishes but I enjoyed the whole lot. Very refreshing to have dishes that are not usually seen in many Indian restaurants as this place is Southern Indian cuisine! Staff... More

Loved the food and ambience of Rasa.It serves very authentic flavors from Kerla. All dishes ordered were wonderfully decorated and food was really mouth watering. We went for lunch and there was not much crowd which added advantage for us and got best attention and service. Staff were jovial. Only one suggestion,I know its from Kerla but they should really... We were invited to try this restaurant by those that had been before. We were advised that the cooking style is different to a typical Indian in the UK and we were not disappointed. The snacks before the meal were new to me and served with a variety of poppadoms and crisp breads. the starters were excellent. I had a... More

Something new. I haven't read all the general reviews about Rasa so apologies if someone else has mentioned this. Rasa (Newcastle) is part of a chain of Keralan restaurants throughout the country of the same name. Two days a year, in April and September, they link up to celebrate Keralan holidays. These are hosted at one of the branches, with... More

Myself and my partner dined out at Rasa before a concert in Newcastle. It was our first time there and sadly most likely our last - we are moving to Scotland and wish we'd discovered this gem of a restaurant sooner! The menu is Keralan and is quite different to the 'standard' Indian menu. No tikka masala here! We both... More

The pickles and popadom mixed starter was excellent and three out of four curries were really good with one being a bit of a let down. Staff were ok if a bit slow and I felt they tried to encourage us to over order unnecessarily. It's definitely worth a visit but I won't rush back for a while.

Having visited a South Indian restaurant In Hampton Court last year, I was impressed with the food. To find a South Indian restaurant in Newcastle was a great find. The food on offer is not your standard Indian cuisine. There is no Jalfrezis, Kormas and Baltis. More fish and veggie dishes. The Doha that they offer is amazing. They are... More
