Outstanding role-model for other eateries.

Went here for the first time with a friend last night after I'd seen it recommended on Vegan Facebook communities. I'm a chef myself and admittedly slightly hard to please at times (No, a salad or Marinara pasta don't always do it). Massive *THANK YOU* to whoever runs this place for realising that... read more

My husband and I asked for the sharing vegetarian platter which was £11 for 2. All we got was 3 sun dried tomatoes, 2 slices of mozarella, iceberg lettuce, a quarter of a tomato and 3 slices of onion, a few olives, half an articholke, one piece of cucumber and 4 tiny pieces of bread. Very poor value for money.... More

Dear Reviewer I would like to start by expressing our sincere apologies in regards to the platter size as this issue has recently came to our attention in regards to a member of our kitchen team not following our guidelines for the vegetarian and antipasto platters. This has been dealt with severely as we always strive for the best quality... More

Went to Mamma Mia's with a Living Social voucher for starters and main course. We went at lunch time and it was very quiet.I I had mussels in white wine which I found too salty but my husband had them in a Napoli sauce and they were fine. I had salmon in pasta and a napoli sauce for my main... More

Dear Reviewer Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to review our restaurant. Thank you in regards to bringing the sauce for the mussels to our attention as we have recently began using a different vegetable bouillon and the sauce chef was a little too overzealous which when seasoned again before serving took it over... A group of about 20 of us went here for a leaving party and the staff and service was excellent even though we where quite rowdy. I’d easily reccommend this place. it worked out at 20 per head for 2 courses and wine, very good value.

I went to mamma Mia with a group of vegan friends and we were amazed at how much choice we had. We were greeted with friendly service, and a vegan menu!!!! A whole menu JUST for us. It was great! Hands down one of the best places to visit in newcastle for vegans. I've been spreading the word ever since!!... More

Early dinner during 'Happy hour' on a mid-week evening. Reception and service generally OK, decor looking tired (as does the cutlery!) and food was a bit of a disappointment. We had the 3 course option (the 3rd being coffee). Potatoe skins to start with - the accompanying dip too vinigary for our taste. My pizza was poor - base too... More

I bought a wowcher voucher for Mamma mias (I think the deal was £9 for 2 mains and 2 wines) to take my sister for her birthday. After a bit of struggle finding the place I was delighted with its cute and very unique decor. After a lovely greeting by the staff we were seated at a little candle lit... More

Was in Newcastle the other evening with friends and went to Mama Mia's Italian restaurant at 46 Pudding Chare close to Grey Street and the Theatre Royal. We had a lovely meal in a very clean and pleasant restaurant with attentive staff. Two minor niggles - firstly it is situated in a narrow street with no immediate parking and secondly... More

We hadn't been to this restaurant for such a long time so thought we would give it a try. As soon as we sat down the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. We didn't have much of a chance to look at the menu. After that she then came back and asked what food we would like to... More

We stumbled upon this little Italian whilst exploring Newcastle. And it's a good job we did! We each had a starter and a pizza to eat. Plenty of parmesan and black pepper on mine (yum!) but a disappointing amount of pepperoni on my boyfriend's pepperoni pizza. The beer was good but the toilets were absolutely freezing! Very reasonably priced -... More
