Having recently moved back to the North East of England after 3 years of working in Asia, I now find myself unable to eat your run of the mill 'Chinese Garden' take-away. With my girlfriend visiting from Singapore, I found this the perfect opportunity to explore the well rated Chinese restaurants that the North East has to offer and quickly... More

HeiHei offers a wide selection of food. The quality? Good. Taste? Somewhat bland but could be what I ordered. Would I go again? Yes, I'd go and try something different.

Came here for a family meal early one evening. Food was very tasty and authentic (I am Chinese). Lots of Chinese people eating here which is a good sign for the quality of the cooking. Our young children enjoyed what they had (we ordered lots of dishes to share) and the waiters and waitresses were all very efficient. Atmosphere was... More

Having passed this restaurant on literally hundred's of occasions over the years and having had it in the back of my mind to give it a go, we eventually got around to it a few weeks back - pleasingly we had made a reservation in advance and it was just as well given that the restaurant were reluctantly having to... There was a large group (25) of us there to enjoy the Guangzhou banquet, which was excellent value for money (we had one vegetarian in the group who was well catered for) for us all. The service was swift and the venue was just right for our party. A thoroughly excellent night was had by all and I can't recommend... More

I had a dinner date with me girlfriend on Friday night. We pop in the place called heihei, which serves the proper Chinese food. And I dare to say they provides the best Chinese food in Newcastle. But also the service was decent as well, it was difficult to get a taxi on Friday night. And the manager even booked... More

Been in recently with my cousin on a weekday, the place looks as busy as weekend. I have had my usual BBQ seabass, even taste better than before and several traditional cold Chinese starter... More

After a visit to a very busy Newcastle cikty centre ( mostly involving a few drinks in Bacchus) we were ready for a meal but hadnt thought to book on an afternoon, and after unsuccesful visits to one or two other restaurants we followed my sons recommendation and headed to Hei Hei. Turned out to be a very good move!... More

This was the most unusual Chinese food we have ever had. We were recommended this restaurant by a couple having a drink in the Crown Posada. What a lucky encounter that was. The spare ribs, house specialty of aubergine and a wonderful braised beef with chillies dish were just delicious. We had a lovely bottle of Gewurztraiminer to go with... More
