One of those restaurants you'll discover by word of mouth rather than by walking past. Tucked away down Market Lane, Paradiso is a hidden treasure.

The restaurant is split into three main floors. The first floor, which is also the main seating floor seats up to 60, has a bar and a spacious outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. The second floor contains the open-plan kitchen and another seating area, which is able to seat up to 50. This floor is smaller than the first floor, but is still capable of holding large parties with ease, and again, we can accommodate parties of any size and number. If you require more privacy, our third floor is a private dining room which can seat up to 45. As this room features skylights, it is a bright, warm space and is spacious enough to be used for any kind of event, such as dining, presentations and so on.

The restaurant is not obvious as it is situated on a narrow lane away from the main road. But it was recommended by a friend. Paradiso has received criticism in the past for a slow service, this tends to be because the food is freshly prepared, but I agree it's not suitable if you're in a hurry. Upon this visit, I was served within 15 minutes, with a 12" ham and mushroom pizza. I also ordered a coffee, which only took a few minutes to... More

A family run Italian set over 3 floors. We enjoyed a perfect family meal from a very good menu. The restaurant was incredibly busy, thankfully we booked ahead. I have never seen waiting staff work so hard, running up and down the stairs, it was entertaining just watching them juggle all the plates etc without any accidents. I would recommend

This was my second visit to Paradiso and I was not disappointed. I think I enjoyed it more than my first trip. Me and a friend arrived relatively early for a Friday evening without booking and only a few people were dining. We were seated quickly, and our food and drink order were taken within the first fifteen minutes. We... More

Booked a table for 8pm, stood on stairs for 15 minutes with other customers before eventually being seated. 2 menus between 3 people on our table, waited ages to order drinks and longer to actually get them. Ordered starters and mains and still had nothing on our table 40 minutes later. Eventually, my starter came and was good but at... More

We had a table booked for 7pm, we waited 30 mins before someone took a drinks order then when it arrived one was missing and one was wrong. We had to asked to order food after that and we waited an unbelievable hour and a half for our food. None of the other diners were getting any food either and... More

Took 10 minutes to attract a waiters attention to get seated for a prebooked reservation. A further 15 minutes to get asked for drinks and another 15 minutes before those drinks were served. They didn't have enough menus to go around so we had to wait for one to become available (another 10 mins) and then we still had to... More

I came here for the first time with a group of friends for Restaurant Week, and I'm planning to return very soon! The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff were so friendly and the food is definitely among the most authentic in Newcastle city centre. I had the tomato basil pesto and mozzarella salad to start, followed by the mushroom risotto... More

I was on a day trip to Newcastle and, only having passed through going somewhere else, it was a new experience discovering the town. When it came to lunch, I relied on Tripadvisor for advice and chose Paradiso. I do not regret it. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. The price was excellent. What more could you ask... More

Real atmosphere in this lively central restaurant. It's got no airs and graces. Just good food....good service and a good eating experience. We visited on a wet cold January night and the place was jumping.
