Cheap and cheerful

Visited on 7/4/15 for a quiet meal with the other half. Authentic cuisine. Cheap food. Large portions. Only negative aspect is the long queue before getting a table and not being able to book a table.

you always have a great night in here - cheap high quality food and wine in a great atmosphere, be prepared to wait for a table but it is always worth it.

I have been to Francesca's several times and the food is amazing, however on my most recent visit we had to leave due to the fact that we were waiting half an hour for a table and got bored. The food is normally worth the wait but we were all starving. We did ring to book a table however we... More

We love this place, going often with our family. Really good value for money with quality authentic Italian food. It has never changed in the 20 years we've been going (in a good way!) Can always be relied on. Can't book so sometimes have to queue but that's all part of the experience, drinks available from the bar as you... More

I have visited this restaurant many times over the last few years and it never fails to disappoint. It is my go to Italian restaurant in Newcastle and while I have tried many others, nowhere matches Francesca's for quality and value. It's biggest downside could infact be it popularity. As bookings are not allowed, weekends usually see large queues form... More

Came here on a Thursday evening and it was already packed and we had to stand and wait in the foyer. My partner really wanted to eat here so we waited for around 15 mins. We got seated and waited a while to be served. Which was fine seen as how busy it was. Food was good, nice, simple and... More

Arrived at 6.55pm on Good Friday eve and still had to queue 30 mins but who cares when you can drink in the queue / bar while waiting for a table. Got a great seat by the window and had King Prawns in garlic which were delicious. The other half had a huge plate of calamaris to start with garlic... More

For some reason the majority of staff are really arrogant, and it seems everything they have to do is a real chore. When we asked our waiter for his recommendation it was like I had just insulted his mother. Food was nice, however due to the bad service we left with a bad taste in our mouths.
