Description: Marco Polo is an Italian bistro that is celebrating its 40th year of trading. We are an independent restaurant and locally owed. We offer a wide range of pizza/pasta and consider this to be our bread and butter. However we really come in to our own on the a la carte side of the menu. All our dishes are prepared on site and deliver extremely good value. The restaurant is always busy and has great atmosphere. We can cater for most requests. We take reservations and also hold a number of tables back for walk-in custom. So if you're passing pop in.

Liked the new menu. They've reduced the quantity of dishes on offer, and improved the quality. Staff are young and friendly

Nice pizza base probably the best base I've had in ages, not the cheapest. I had the sea food pizza and the clams were miniscule basically all shell no meat. I was disappointed with the topping. 1 squid left alone on top of the pizza with 4 bits of cod, they could of cut the squid up and scattered it... More

Don't go if you're in a hurry. Starters didn't come all together then waited nearly 3 quarters of an hour before the mains arrived. When we questioned the long wait we were told there was a large party in, so obviously we were not priority. Main course which was supposed to have chicken livers contained a tiny piece; a pasta... Wow! We have walked past this place loads of times, we sent in this weekend and we are glad we did, the food is fantastic, one tip don't eat to much bread or you won't finish the main course. Great staff great service. Well worth a visit.

This is a very popular restaurant in Newcastle and is now spread across the equivalent of three shop windows and has three floors. We ate on the Saturday evening before the Great North Run when booking a table a few days beforehand is imperative. Despite the fact it is spread over a large area, each little corner has a cosy... Ate here twice during our four night stay in Newcastle. On both occasions the food and service was of a good standard. Would highly recommend the roast lamb shoulder pasta, the calves liver and the slow-cooked shin of beef. The starters were also good and the primitivo red wine went down well.

We booked on line on Saturday afternoon pre Lisa Stansfield concert at the Sage. The food was excellant I chose the shin of beef pasta as a starter as I have cooked this dish myself and Iwas not dissapointed, the beef melted it was so tender. melanie and her friend shared a antipasta starter and both comented that it was... We visited Marco Polo on a Saturday lunch time after wanting to visit this restaurant I am glad we finally have. We were seated quickly by our friendly waitress who took our drinks orders and offered us water without us having to ask, we all loved the decor and liked the relax atmosphere. My food was absolutely beautiful, starting with... More

We visited wed 27th Aug for lunch as it had been recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We opted for the fixed price menu 2 courses £9.95 (3 courses only £12.95). Main courses we chose the Shin of Beef Lasagne and the Wild Mushroom and Gorgonzola Fettuccine and for desserts we had almond cake with poached rhubarb... More

My husband and I went last Saturday evening I booked our table online which was so easy. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back again when we next visit Newcastle.
