We met with staff at the Fishermans Lodge to discuss our wedding reception. We were keen to hold the reception there due to its fantastic surroundings and the fact that it is a lovely old building, which has had a great reputation. Having waited for several weeks for the manager to actually organise a meeting (we had to chase him),... More

Used to love this place - indeed, adore it! Menu's pretentious now and wine list is absolutely awful....spoiled a special family reunion even though we'd been there jusr a couple of weeks previously...no idea what's happened..... More

I was worried after reading recent review but decided to give the place a chance. We found the service to be good, but we were the only people in the restaurant for the first hour or so. We enjoyed a very nice glass of prosecco and the canopes were a nice touch, if a little uninspired (perhaps a spot of... More

The setting is very picturesque and the building itself is quite atmospheric but other than that it was a poor experience which is a pity as the staff were very charming and tried their best. Unfortunately, there were too few of them which led to long delays. I had to go looking for someone to get us another drink while... More

I don't usually write reviews but feel so strongly about our terrible experience that I should warn others. Firstly the reviews that claim that the food is as good as it ever has been are deluded. Since the restaurant reopened, under the same owner but different chef, the menu has hardly changed! The main difference however is that the food... More

Sophisticated restaurant for a special occasion given the well presented food, the very lovely setting and the cost. Dishes are very well presented, food is nicely cooked and fairly tasted although not exquisite (but only one of two of us followed the waiter's suggestion and we did not try the scallops!). Nothing to say about the wine as the restaurant... More

I'll keep it to the point - the Sunday lunch was the best one iv had in Newcastle for a Long time. Starter of oysters & samphire was refreshing, main course of slow roast pork with stuffed trotter with black pudding was delicious and the taste the fairground desert made me feel like a kid, all for £22.00. Wine menu... More

Have been to this restaurant many times and recently returned with four friends where we had a very enjoyable lunch with excellent food and presentation, good choice, and attentive but not intrusive staff . Surroundings are very good with a recently added outdoor area where you can enjoy coffee and take in the views of Jesmond Dene. Puzzled about previous... More

We went to The Fishermans Lodge Sunday 19th June for what should have been a lovely family lunch as this is where my husband and I got engaged many years ago and was looking forward to telling our two teenagers all about it. However , when we got there apart from being the almost the only ones there, altho judging... More

We chose The Fisherman’s Lodge for a special meal for 2, in spite of the other review on this page....it’s a Newcastle institution and we thought we should give it a chance. I wish we hadn’t. We were seated at a vast circular table despite there being a small table in the window. We assumed this was reserved for another... More
