Will be back!

I will be honest and admit I perused many a review on here before going. I was a little worried as there were a few reviews with not good things to say. I am sure the management will agree that having an issue and not bringing it up at the time but becoming a keyboard soldier after the fact is... read more

Firstly thank you for visiting us and thank you for a lovely review. Yes I'm the same when it comes to it if there is something clearly wrong we would like to know first hand so we can put it right if possible. You do of course get competitors and their friends writing bad reviews also so that is always... More

Heard lots of positive reports about this pub,so thought we"d try it, it was very quiet, apart from the awful background music, the food was ok,nothing to write home about, average pub food,we both ordered the 10oz gammon, which was nice, although it came with chips, could"ve done with a few more,as the portion size was small & they looked rather anaemic, didn"t impress me enough... Well that's a first I've never had anything but great reviews about the gammon steaks which we did a lot of research on before finding the perfect thickness. Even had a top chef come in for lunch and ask me where we got them from as it was the nicest gammon steak he had had in years he said. The... More

We visited on 26 July for a Sunday lunch. The food was just ok. I had beef and found the slices hard to cut as they had been carved far too thick. The roasties did not seem properly cooked as not brown. We got shown to table and waited for drink order to be taken then presumed you must have... More

Firstly sorry that your meat was cut to thickly as its cut from a joint by hand it does vary however the quality and taste is excellent as I do a quality tasting every week myself to ensure this. The roasties we do in the oven and some yes are not brown sometimes as we do make them ourselves as... More

We went for tea with family, the garden is perfect for kids to run around and very safe. The beef steak and ale pie was dry and tasteless, the bugger was over cooked, the chips and the kids fish and chips were perfect. Would go again with kids as they loved it.

Sorry to hear that your pie was dry this is very unusual as we serve lots I it accompanied by a gravy jug. Glad the kids enjoyed themselves tho it's important that they are happy makes for an easier time all round. I will speak with chef to see why happened as it's not common. Thanks again More

An impromptu summers evening walk here. Shame all the outside tables in the sun were gone. Still we sat and enjoyed a drink in the garden before heading inside for food. From the reasonably priced menu we simply had a platter for 1 and a Cajun chicken burger with bacon. Had ordered the Mexican burger but (10 minutes later) was... More

Took my mother out for a Sunday dinner, wanted it to be somewhere nice. Read the TripAdvisor reviews, and thought we'd try here. So glad we did. Beautiful setting, surrounded by trees and a huge garden with picnic tables to eat outside if the weather's nice, and a good sized childrens play area. The service was very fast and attentive.... Firstly let me start by saying the first time I visited the piper it was superb, lovely food, nice outside area everything home made and cooked well, the only negative was that the outside needed a bit of a clean and spruce but this was early spring so it probably hadn't been open long. All in all lovely Visit! However... More
