This little bistro is above the comedy club on High Bridge Street. We went with friends and had a tasty and inspiring meal. Plenty of fresh zingy ingredients in the salads and a great choice of mains for both veggies and meat eaters. The whole experience was informal yet intimate with a lovely vibe. Not a cheap eaterie but 10... More

My partner and I enjoyed a meal here - nice quality of food - but the place was a bit dead. It was handy for going on to the comedy show but I won't eat here again, mainly because it is overpriced for what you get.

Was there tonight (a very quiet Sunday) we got our starters/drinks in good time but unfortunately they did not bring our mains until 25 mins and a reminder later. The staff were pleasant enough but seemed to be more pre-occupied in their drinks, phones and plans for the week. It was a real let down as the food was top... More

Was very surprised to discover this little bistro after being given free tickets to the comedy club below with discount if you ate before the acts started. It was great, totally unexpected, it was a combination of Thai food and other delicious dishes. For starters we had Thai prawns and chicken and peanut Thai noodles, for mains we had a lovely... More

We had a meal here on Wednesday and it was so good we are gong again this Monday. There is seating available both inside on outside for meals, we sat outside, which is a smoking area but even for us non smokers it wasn't an issue. Even though there isn't a view as such it is beautiful outside and very... More

Newcastle in my view is not a great place for lunch. You're either in McDonalds or paying for a "proper meal". Both have their place if we're honest but we went to The Stand today for lunch and it was just the ticket. Laid back airy surroundings, service was great and good craic to boot. Good coffee and smashing, tasty... More

Great little setting with a comedy club downstairs, will definitely go back for the comedy next time, just some food this time round. Had the seafood chowder for starter, was great, very tasty and well presented and then the Vietnamese beef for main which was again really good, touch on the sour side which I love in Asian dishes. Would... More

I love the food, the atmosphere, the staff..... But the whole package is a little strange. A comedy club downstairs that sells rather upmarket food just feels a bit strange to me. Surely a few nice, well made, classics would be better washed down with some nice drinks. Overall I love the food here, not a bad price, but actually... More

We were in a group of 18 going to the comedy club so booked to eat upstairs before. We wanted some good honest food to fill us before a few belly laughs. How disappointing. Sandwich meat on salad with peanut butter, processed chicken in a brioche and a gritty cheesecake. All in tiny portions. Service was great can't criticise that... More
