Newcastle in my view is not a great place for lunch. You're either in McDonalds or paying for a "proper meal". Both have their place if we're honest but we went to The Stand today for lunch and it was just the ticket. Laid back airy surroundings, service was great and good craic to boot. Good coffee and smashing, tasty... More

Great little setting with a comedy club downstairs, will definitely go back for the comedy next time, just some food this time round. Had the seafood chowder for starter, was great, very tasty and well presented and then the Vietnamese beef for main which was again really good, touch on the sour side which I love in Asian dishes. Would... More

I love the food, the atmosphere, the staff..... But the whole package is a little strange. A comedy club downstairs that sells rather upmarket food just feels a bit strange to me. Surely a few nice, well made, classics would be better washed down with some nice drinks. Overall I love the food here, not a bad price, but actually... More

We were in a group of 18 going to the comedy club so booked to eat upstairs before. We wanted some good honest food to fill us before a few belly laughs. How disappointing. Sandwich meat on salad with peanut butter, processed chicken in a brioche and a gritty cheesecake. All in tiny portions. Service was great can't criticise that... More

Service was great, not the comfiest of seats. The bar is well stocked with good quality spirits and mixers and the drinks are well made. The food however seems almost an after thought or perhaps over thought. The menu was fussy and I struggled to find something to amuse my bouch. When the food arrived it looked good but the... More

Great food and good staff and service. Really enjoyed my 3 course meal for 14 pound. Would highly recommend it. Good menu choice.

Despite it being a Saturday night, and super busy, and we hadn't booked a table, the staff managed to squeeze our party of four in. We were warned that we would have to vacate the table before half seven, giving us an hour for food and drinks. At any other restaurant this wouldn't have been feasible but thanks to the... More
