A nice romantic meal pre theatre, food very good but service very poor, staff seamed to be wandering around aimlessly avoiding eye contact. We sat for almost half an hour after finishing our main course without having our plates collected or asked if we wanted a desert. In the end we just gave up and went to the bar and... More

Bar bistro with live comedy entertainment downstairs. Some comedy stars and local stand ups. Make a night of it. Don't sit too near the stage if you don't like being heckled.

Went here for some pre show food, the food was well above what i was expecting, and the 2 meals for 15 quid werent too steep either. Will definatley be back here for food next time were at the show.

We have eaten here twice in the last few weeks- both times at lunchtime. First was on a Sunday when there's a set menu, and secondly last Friday when the menu was slightly different . On the first occasion my husband and son had the roast beef, while myself and my daughter and sons girlfriend had the mushroom and goats... More

This little bistro is above the comedy club on High Bridge Street. We went with friends and had a tasty and inspiring meal. Plenty of fresh zingy ingredients in the salads and a great choice of mains for both veggies and meat eaters. The whole experience was informal yet intimate with a lovely vibe. Not a cheap eaterie but 10... More

My partner and I enjoyed a meal here - nice quality of food - but the place was a bit dead. It was handy for going on to the comedy show but I won't eat here again, mainly because it is overpriced for what you get.

Was there tonight (a very quiet Sunday) we got our starters/drinks in good time but unfortunately they did not bring our mains until 25 mins and a reminder later. The staff were pleasant enough but seemed to be more pre-occupied in their drinks, phones and plans for the week. It was a real let down as the food was top... More

Was very surprised to discover this little bistro after being given free tickets to the comedy club below with discount if you ate before the acts started. It was great, totally unexpected, it was a combination of Thai food and other delicious dishes. For starters we had Thai prawns and chicken and peanut Thai noodles, for mains we had a lovely... More

We had a meal here on Wednesday and it was so good we are gong again this Monday. There is seating available both inside on outside for meals, we sat outside, which is a smoking area but even for us non smokers it wasn't an issue. Even though there isn't a view as such it is beautiful outside and very... More

Newcastle in my view is not a great place for lunch. You're either in McDonalds or paying for a "proper meal". Both have their place if we're honest but we went to The Stand today for lunch and it was just the ticket. Laid back airy surroundings, service was great and good craic to boot. Good coffee and smashing, tasty... More
