We were visiting Newcastle for a weekend break & found Days of the Raj by chance and we were pleased we did. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant when we arrived but the 'phones were ringing non stop & people arriving to collect takeaways. The menu was varied with plenty of choice. What a fantastic restaurant! Don't be put off by the rather small and unattractive doorway leading in to a narrow set of stairs. When you get to the top, you are presented with a large, brightly lit, airy dining room, beautifully appointed with light woods, brass chandeliers, and even a grand piano! The staff are very attentive, and there is... More

We came here on a Saturday night, when it was fairly busy, and we found the service and food to be excellent. There was 3 of us in our party and one of the staff came over and instantly remembered us from our only previous visit. We were quite impressed considering we had last been in early December. We ordered... More

This is by far the best Indian Restaurant I've been to in Newcastle and Gosforth. I've been nowhere else in Gosforth since I discovered it. I guess it's slightly outer rim location stops it being the most frequented Indian Restaurant but you are really missing a treat if you don't try it. Aminur, the Manager, has a great culinary pedigree... More

It was great to visit Days of the Raj on New Years Eve. The place was packed but they still found room for my wife and I. I mus admit that there have been times when we have been the only ones dining, which is a shame as the food is always top notch and the surroundings / decor are... More

Waited nearly two hours for take away, usually collect as delivery always slow. In fairness food usually very good but this was poor, no pops in order albeit payed for them. Had just closed front door when I realised but he'd gone. Rang restaurant but was told he wouldn't be back for a while. Ordered staff mirche which is a... More

Where do I start, we always order from Days of the Raj it's normally fantastic, but today was completely different. We ordered a very large order, coming to £53 we waited 1 hour for our food, which was okay, then the food came missing 2 dishes, we rang back to try and receive our missing items, the manager was incredibly... We've eaten here a few times, and it's generally been OK. Our latest visit was a let down though. It's our local Indian and we often go in quite early....this time at 7:15 on a Friday. The place was very quiet....just 1 other family eating, and a couple of people coming in for take aways. The service was as friendly... More

The DOTR has an early bird special which is good value for money. It also has a banquet special for an extra couple of quid which is better value with more choice. The four if us had a variety of meals and all were lovely (I had to taste theirs for review purposes!). I had a madras (my usual but... More

Value for money. Fantastic food. Lovely clean setting with nice relaxed & fantastic service. Been a lot as it's our local & we love it. Only down side a bit to much sauce sometimes. But with lots of rice & nan bread to mop it up it's fine. For a belly busting meal - try the 3/4 cause mmmmmmmmmmm In... More
