I've visited Electric East several times and not yet been disappointed. The menu changes weekly, and with a tapas style dining you don't feel like you're missing out on trying something new.

the most interesting food in the North East. I wish this place was nearer home so I could go more often. Astonishing food well served in a strangely out of the way location. Why is it so far off any Newcastle beaten track. Tell your friends but take a compass /satnav , you really wouldn't know it was there but... More

Have visited 3 times in total. Each time the food has been quite good if not slightly too salty generally enjoyable though. I think the portions could do with being slightly larger for the price. On the latest visit 2 of us has the sweet and sour pork, 1 had the chicken curry and I had the lamb shank, all... More

We had a reservation for 9pm and, although there were empty tables, we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be set up for us. This set the tone for the evening, unfortunately: a10 minute wait to order some beer then another 5 minute wait to order food. By 9.50 we had drunk our beer and were being... More

Our go-to restaurant in Newcastle, ate all over town but nowhere (maybe Cafe Vivo) really comes close to Electric East. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, if you haven't been then you should try it. I always go for 3 or 4 Asian tapas, portion sizes are perfect and you get a taste of everything, beef rendang is my favourite,... More

Great eclectic restaurant surrounded by dull glass office buildings and hotels but once you are inside you are in a completely different world. Service is fast and furious but friendly. Food is exciting with very different spins on the norm. Wine list is good and not over priced. Good cocktail list and beers. The owner a lovely warm chap with... More

We were kindly given a voucher from our niece at Christmas for this restaurant she rates highly, entitling my husband and I to a starter and main course. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming on arrival. My husband had the chicken satay and sweet and sour pork fillet. The satay was small, too sweet with only a few chopped peanuts... More

Great food, great choice, great surroundings, good service, reasonable value. Well worth a try if in the area and enjoy Asian cuisine. As authentic and tasty Asian cuisine as I've had in Europe. Even the dessert was good.

Service was very slow and surly, waitress avoided serving us any wine menus so didn't bother. Starters were eventually served not very hot , very small portions and over seasoned. Mains were surprisingly ordinary after descriptions and we have eaten such really tasty Vietnamese food elsewhere. The batter was oily and sauces salty and devoid of any real flavours. Owner... More

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night and it was superb. Never tasted food like it. Superb service. All the little portions were just enough and the coffee was really good. Would definitely eat here again. It was quite when we arrived but started filling up. Lovely décor and Tin Tin art work on the walls. Compared to... More
