Now renamed the less authentic but probably easier to remember "The Bake" this immensely popular restaurant sits under the Metro bridge at Byker. We went on a Friday evening in a large group that was pre-booked and were split over two tables. It was packed when we arrived and there was some wait whilst people finished at the tables that... A simple, no fuss restaurant with delicious, traditional food. It's not the place to go for a romantic dinner for two but If you like mezzes, as we do, then this is the place for you. There is a wide choice and all the ones we tasted were delicious. The prices are reasonable and the service is first class. We like... More

The place doesn't scream fine dining, but the traditional Lebanese food, the more than reasonable prices and the friendly staff make up for it all. It's a brilliant place for families and larger groups, wouldn't say it was typically for couples. Could eat everything on the menu! It's fab!

We order take away from Al Baik every so often, we love the food. Tonight for the first time our take away order was missing a couple of things . When I phoned they were very helpful and quickly brought the missing things, along with some extras on the house. Fab service.

We eat at the Albaik quite a lot since we found it in Byker. The food is amazing and the prices are reasonable- being able to take your own alcohol is great too! The only thing is that the restaurant is always very busy and the tables are very compact so its not a quiet relaxing meal by any means.... More

We come here quite alot with friends and family and never go hungry. The portions are a good size and the food and service are both amazing. Anyone who hasnt tried should give it a go.

We were very disappointed with our experience at Albaik. I found a thick black hair in the middle of one of our dishes and although it was immediately whisked away and replaced with another dish, not one of the staff present apologised. The replacement dish was acceptable either as it was partly cold so clearly hadn't been heated through properly.... More
