Great atmosphere and reasonably good food

7 couples arrived on a busy Saturday night and had to queue for around 20 minutes for our 8:30 booking. Be aware that you might have to wait outside in the cold and wet! When we were shown to our table, the service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was very busy and there wasn't much... read more

Returned to Albaik or The Bake a couple of weeks ago. This place is buzzing, the staff are great, the food is lovely, and the setting near the great pubs of the Ouseburn is ideal! A great place for groups, strong recommend this place!

We have been the the albaik (now the bake) a few times in the past but this was the first trip in a while. We order some starters (the meatballs are to die for) and a range of mains. The portions are very generous and the food tastes amazing. Service was very quick and the staff attentive. At the end... More

If you don't know anything about Lebanese food visit this place. We took friends from London and spent around £15 per head for a banquet. Bring your own wine as there isn't a license. If you're not sure what to take from the menu, tell the staff what meat or fish you would like and pick one or two "mains"... More

I've been to Albaik a few times now and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself each time. I've had a mixed platter each time and the portions are very generous. The food is excellently prepared, tastes delicious, and is really very satisfying. Plus it feels authentic, which always makes a meal SO much better! Each time we've left feeling stuffed, but... We were a party of 4 visiting this restaurant for the first time, having been to the sister restaurant in Gosforth several times. The original is by far the best. The food was delicious, the service was excellent (Ali made sure we were treated like royalty), and although I like the place in Gosforth, the food here was unbeatable! Will... More

What a cool place to eat and something a little different. It's bring you own booze too which is always an attractive option to avoid restaurant wine prices, and its just outside the city centre but it is still very busy showing its popularity. My girlfriend took me here for my birthday on recommendation from her brother as one of... More

Warm welcome, relaxed yet busy atmosphere, delicious, fresh food, excellent service and the best hot flat bread.........mmm! A little delay in sitting for our table booked for 8.30 pm but not an issue as Wetherspoon's just around the corner; reasonable night as you take your own alcohol (or not) if you wish; Morrison's across the road if you don't know... Have been to The Bake(Al Baik) several times. Sometimes as a couple, sometimes with friends/family. It has been consistently good and we have always enjoyed the food , service and atmosphere. It is excellent value and bringing your own wine/beer makes it even better value. This last time, we had 2 of the mixed £20 meals plus a seafood platter... More
