Local Pub

Family run good food friendly locals, The setting is the thing with this pub on the banks of the Tyne it is a lovely setting. Directly on Hadrian's Way the variety of walkers in the summer is quite astounding.

First time I have been and would definitely not recommend. Four of us went for dinner and as we were pushed for time we ordered burgers and a macaroni for the little one. We waited over an hour and when they they were dry. My niece had the southern fried chicken burger, which she said was ok but myself and... More

Went for lunch, beer garden is very good and reasonably tidy. Dogs are allowed. Meals very reasonable, as were the drinks. Service pleasant . Excellent location...BUT clientele are ( in general ) awfull ! This consisted of local families who did nothing but use offensive language consistently and spoilt our visit. This class of clientele seemed to be the norm...it... More

Came at 5 pm. Told I could have a hot dog or a sandwich but it would take over an hour. Only good thing, they told me there was a good place nearby called Kellman's. Went there, a great meal at a good price.

We dropped in for a pint and some soup towards the end of our first day walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. The homemade leek & potato soup was very good but there was no fresh baked bread to go with it (we were at least warned in advance but had to make do with a rather dry roll), and the... More

This pub is right on the banks of the river Tyne just west of Newcastle on a main cycle route and popular riverside walk. Having grown up around his area I know of the Boathouse but had never eaten there. They advertise Lunch from 12-6 weekdays and 12-4 I think on weekends and state their food is homemade so when... The staff are a bit flat here and I thing it must come from the owner who when I asked a waitress who the miserable bloke working at the bar was told me it was the owner. Fine if you want a quick bar meal.
