Description: Right next to Bolam Lake, near Belsay in Northumberland, The Stable Coffee Shop is a family run business with lovely food, a warm atmosphere, and extra friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble and it is popular with locals and visitors from further away. It is also a Caravan Club CL site and we would love to stay there if it wasn't only 20 minutes from home!!

The car ride to the coffee shop is really picturesque through the Northumberland countryside, especially now when the autumn colours are so spectacular. The Stable is a little oasis of old fashioned charm. The decor is rustic and very traditional, with stone walls and beams. It is quite small, seating about 30 at most, but there are benches outside for... More

Our second visit to the coffee shop, the first being several years ago. First impressions: a very clean and tidy touring caravan site next to the cafe. I use crutches and on entering the cafe I was asked if I would like a cushion to use on the hard chair. A very thoughtful gesture which I accepted. I do in... More

After walking at shaftoe crags we stopped here for coffee and cake. First class service. Warm, welcoming, cheerful service. Good strong coffee and super selection of home made cakes .

After a very icy walk around Bolam Lake this is a great place to retreat to. I've passed this place many times when out cycling and it would be good in the summer for cyclists. They have cycling mags to read The home made cakes & Tray bakes are excellent and its not very expensive. The sandwiches looked pretty good... More

Stopped here with my Mum on a trip to Otterburn, what a lovely find, the toasted teacakes melt in the mouth and the coffee was excellent. The atmosphere was very friendly with a lot of banter going on between Louise who looked after us and a group of cyclists. Will definitely go again next time I find myself in the... More

You should never go back as the saying goes, but in the cast of The Stales, whilst it must be over 15 years since my last visit, it was just as I remembered and I was glad I had made the trip. We ordered a ham sandwich, a cheese savoury sandwich and two lattes, these were followed by a piece... More

This lovely coffee shop, charmingly created from an old stable, and furnished in traditional country style, is owned and run by the Charlton Family, who give everyone a friendly welcome. For warm days, they have outside picnic tables. They serve great soup, a good selection of homemade pies, salads, baked potatoes, delicious cakes and tray bakes. The tiffin is the... More
