Good Indian snacks. The samosa was great. The ambience is good. The dedication to Dabbawalas of MUmbai made me nostalgic as I am from Mumbai.

Eight of us went for a splendid meal at Dabbawal on Saturday night. The consensus was that this would be a restaurant rated 'excellent' with a few minor changes. First of all the positives. The staff were excellent; friendly, helpful and plentiful. Lots of assistance. The food also was great. Some of the party went for more exotic items on... More

Went for a work night out and ordered the naga chilli lamb described on the menu as super spicy . I was surprised when I tasted the food and it was not at all spicy , in fact McDonald's milkshake has more spice. Let down after all the hype from one of my work mates stating it was the best... More

The food on offer at Dabbawal is varied and plentiful. You can choose from either a tapas dining experience or order your more traditional (but just as tasty) main curry dishes. I would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant as the quality of the food is extremely good and, having visited twice, have no issues with the place.

Came for restaurant week lunch with a friend. Was greeted pleasantly by the waitress who took me to the reserved table. Offered me a drink while I waited, but I declined. When my friend arrived we ordered drinks, my mango lassi was great, but a bit sweet for my personal tastes (nit picking). It was however not served with the... More

We visited as a party of 6, and opted for the 'chef's surprise' £21pp. Firstly arrived the poppadoms, pickle tray, bhel puri, and sweet diced potato. These nibbles were fine but we were all very hungry and patiently waited for the next course to arrive. Starters arrived all individually served on separate plates, it was the small portions that disappointed,... More

Nice contemporary decor, great food that tastes wonderful and is beautifully presented. We go there often and would love to eat outside where there is a lovely dining area, but so far it's always been too cold!

We went on a Tuesday night during restaurant week to take advantage of the 2 courses for £15 offer. It was the first time we had been and went on recommendation. The menu was a much shortened version to get the offer, but the food was excellent. Decent portions, perfectly cooked rice, lamb which was beautiful. This would have been... More

In Newcastle on business last Wednesday and was recommended this small restaurant, I can't thank them enough for their recommendation, from the first moment to the last it was brilliant, I had the lamb railway curry, the first time I'd tried this and it was delicious and there was plenty of it, the rice was cooked perfectly and the naan...
