Lovely indian in a modern restaurant

Very nice indian in Newcastle. Starters were unique and tasty. The only complaint would be the peshwari naan was made with dates and was not very nice (very skimpy on the filling) and not coconut and raisins as it it would normally be. However, they very kindly swapped it for a plain naan.

This wasn't my first visit to Dabbawals so when we went went out for a work party I was looking forward to it a lot. We all had the chef's special which was £21. The dishes were varied and very tasty. Well recommended especially when washed down with the best lager in s bottle of Cobra. I will certainly be... More

A large group of us ate here as a walk in on a Saturday night. The staff were OK rather than excellent (slow to clean up at times, hard to make drinks orders and one or two rude comments) . But the food was sensational. We got a range of different starters and Mains and shared them all, the food... More

Table was ready for when it was booked on a late sat evening. Food was tasty, ordered mixed grill, chicken lazeez, buttrernut squash side and bread basket to share. The peshwari naan was a little strange as there was dark brown paste instead of the coconut and raisins that I was expecting. Price was probably over priced. Took 3 calls... More

After visiting this restaurant on multitude of occasions I can without question say that dabawal is the best Indian food I have ever eaten, can not criticise any part of the restaurant!! Both the jesmond and Newcastle restaurants are equally as good which just shows how well ran this place is ran as there is consistency between them both!! I... More

This WAS a gem of a place a few month back.. However i think the good reviews have destroyed their ability to keep up customer service. Waited for over an hour without as much as an acknowledgment. When challenged about the wait they took no responsibility and still offered no apology. I would avoid this place if you dont want... More

What a find! Excellent menu, really well presented, great food and very reasonable prices for a city centre. Would definitely recommend

Having been previously we knew the food was good but this service was the worst I've ever encountered. We booked 3 weeks in advance and still had to wait 35mins to be seated and another 15 mins for order to be taken. When we complained we were fobbed off with 'you've only been here 10 minutes' we walked out after... More
