Visited for lunch as part of a groupon. Warm welcome to a half full restaurant at 1.30pm. Drink order quickly taken with a polite waiter who confirmed the details of our deal. Ordered the black pudding starter for myself which was absolutely divine. Ordered the spicy chicken calzone for main which was good but could of done with a little... More

The building is beautiful! The interior stunning and worth a visit just for that, then add in the great value food and drink, the lovely atmosphere and the fantastic helpful staff and you've got the makings of a great night out. The only small caution it that the toilets are down a very steep spiral staircase so be warned!!

Visited on a Wednesday early evening decided on the happy hour menu which is great value, kids menu is good too! Pizza's are just as they should be thin crispy stonebaked bases with plenty topping, we all cleared our plates will definitely be back soon!

Was a lovely setting. We was not rushed & had some lovely wine Meal was alright nice food but nothing special. Would go again. Pizzas was very thin base. But over all not a bad meal.

My wife and I made a repeat visit last Saturday evening, having, once again, reserved a table. We both ate off the "specials board", and it was superb. No starters tonight as we saved ourselves for a substantial main course.Rib-eye steak with black pudding, mushrooms and tomato and herb sauce with chips and vegetables, for me. The Trout fillets in a... More

Really busy Saturday night looking for somewhere to eat in Newcastle. Stumbled across a little Italian restaurant called Portofino. Restaurant was really busy, great atmosphere. Table came free more or less straight away. We ordered starter & main meal, which all of us enjoyed. Meatball are very spicy just how the husband likes them. Overall the restaurant was really good... Have been to Portafino's only a handful of times when in the Newcastle area, and cannot praise the staff enough because everytime I've been in it's always busy, yet the attention of the service is excellent, the food is always superb, well presented and very tasty, a very excellent Italian. Well worth a visit. Good value for money.
