Excellent food

This restaurant is tucked away in the old part of the quayside directly under the Tyne bridge, great service and food is served here. They also stay open late so there is no need to rush to get a table. It is ideally located close to all the quayside bars.

Been here once before and my food was at best 'poor'. Working in this beautiful City again last night I decided to give them a second chance - food was awful and so was the service (or lack of). I complained that the chicken was dry and tasted funny, I'd ordered a medium heat dish yet it was pathetically HOT... More

Thank you for your review Gary. We value customer feedback greatly however your review seems to be slightly exaggerated. I can remember you clearly as you were the only one who complained after ordering the daal saag. You asked for us to replace your meal after demolishing the whole thing and leaving one piece of chicken "which was too hot"... More

Large choice of food. Ordered sheek kebab starter which wasn't the best, but the main course was very enjoyable. Thought the starters were a little expensive but otherwise pretty good

Tried this by recommendation and could not fault it, lovely food and very good service in which they could not do enough for you. I would go back as they have a variation of meals that I not heard of before and would love to try. I could imagine that it would get rather busy at the weekend so would... More

We were a group of 8 on a thursday evening, the restaurant was busy and it is december so most places are. We had to get up and ask for almost everything as the staff were no where to be seen:- drinks, poppadoms, dips.... We had to get up and get our own side plates off other tables.... On the... More

The service was very slow and the staff seemed inconvenienced by our requests for food/drinks. The food was great, however we wouldn't return due to the uncomfortable atmosphere.

Unusual selection of dishes from the subcontinent... everything has a fresh taste, generous use of spices, moist and tender chicken... staff appear on the lazy side rather than attentive, but I don't mind that. The important thing is the food was first class. Slightly pricier than your average indian restaurant, but worth the extra

Waited 2 hours for our food. Table next to use came in after and had finished their starter before our drinks order was even taken! We were repeatedly ignored by staff all night. When food finally arrived it was not good quality, majority was over cooked and bland! Very long, expensive night, memorable but not in the good way!!

Thank you for your review- your feedback is valued greatly. I am not sure how this has happened as I train my staff to take drink orders straight away. As for the food, I'm sorry you did not enjoy it! To each their own....we still hope you can dine with us soon! We are constantly improving. More

We had a very enjoyable meal last Saturday evening at Rani. The decor and ambience is lovely and the service good. We enjoyed the mixed meat platter and onion bhajees and our main course of four chicken dishes, rices and naan breads were flavoursome and tasty. Would recommend this restaurant which is very near the Quayside.
