Relaxed atmosphere, great shoice of dishes, and advice from the staff on what to choose. We had 6 tapas between 2 which was perfect. Service good. Midweek it was fairly quiet. The special menu had 3 tapas for £11 and they were good sized portions for tapas.. A lovely place to eat good quality far eastern food.

Recently changed its name to electric east, not for the better. I ordered a beef dish which was not edible. I had 2 mouthfuls which I had to spit out as the beef was so tuff and stringy. The noodles were awful. I sent it back and had the chicken instead which was ok. This place has gone seriously downhill.

Fun, and quirky twist on 'asian' Great food. Can walk in mid-week, but might need to book ahead on weekends.

This restaurant is handy for the rail station and the arena. The food is tasty and has a modern twist to Asian food. The staff are friendly and helpfull, but if you are looking for a vast menu or posh surrounding, this might not be for you. But give it a go if you dont mind wooden benches.

Visited Electric East again during Restaurant Week in Newcastle. First time we compared it to GOBO in New York. 2nd time around we felt the same way about the food here. It's fantastic! Highly recommended.

Probably in my top 5 restaurants ever, Barn Asia (now Electric East) gets it right on every level; superb quality food, drinks and atmos. there aren't enough superlatives - just love it and can't wait to try the new facelifted version as have been told the food is even better!

This restaurant was recomended by our hotel taxi driver and he came up trumps. The hotel had recomended another restaurant but we are pleased to say we took the drivers advice. The restaurant has really interesting decor and that goes for the owner as well who joined us for a glass of wine as we sat at the table. A... More

Lovely interesting food; helpful staff; good service even on a busy Saturday night. A bit noisy but then it was Saturday.
