Stumbled upon this restaurant by chance but pleased we did! Decor is much nicer inside than it looks from outside and don't be put off by the fact it's in the Bigg Market. Service was 5* and the waitress took her time to tell us about the different menu options and was happy to chat to us about her home... More

In the middle of the Bigg Market means Little Saigon may be judged negatively, but do not miss out! A complete amateur when it comes to Vietnamese food, but the menu, the smells from passing food and the meal I had was outstanding. Very warm and welcoming service, very patient at explaining items from their menu. And a meal for... More

I am Vietnamese and travel a lot for business as well being a big fan of Asian food and Oriental food. I was in Newcastle on one of my business visits and being Vietnamese I had heard of Little Saigon through the Vietnamese community so I decided to give it a try. The location is prime and the decor was... More

Me and dh we're wandering round newcastle last night looking for somewhere to eat by the time we'd gotten to little Saigon my feet were hurting and I was fed up so we went in not expecting much. The service was 'ok' but the food was lovely. We had one of the set menus to give us variety and they... More

First real taste of Vietnamese food - the restaurant itself seems 'no-frills', but there are some good sharing menu options. The large 'cook it yourself pot' certainly seems like a good idea (unfortunately didn't have the stomach for this). The starters are well priced (over-priced starters are a bug-bear), and the mains are of a decent size. I'd probably rate... More

Came for restaurant week. Left disappointed. Service was super-slow even though the restaurant was half-empty. The Vietnamese pancake was quite nice (it's like a very thin omelette), but my main of Vietnamese chicken was just greasy chunks of chicken thigh in a thin gravy that tasted only of 5 spice and sadness.

Visited at the weekend... Bit a quiet spell. So expected a better visit.. Food was good, but let down by simple mistakes. Bits missing of the orders, ordered chicken but received beef.. If everything had been as requested the visit would have been far better. Maybe a one off...

Came here for dinner as we walked past and liked the look of the menu. We ordered spring rolls to start and they were burnt to the point u couldn't cut through them. Then I ordered the 5 spice pork main (£7.95) and it was literally 6 thin strips of pork on two pieces of lettuce leaves. That was it.... More

I have loved this restaurant from it first opening and have visited on countless occasions, went back recently and have to say I was disappointed, the menu appears to have been reduced, and when we ordered vietnamese coffee we were told sorry we have just run out until tomorrow, the server then walked away with no suggestion of an alternative.... Went here with a few friends to this restaurant for supper, and it was very pleasant. Tasty & spicy food, quickly served, and for a good price.
