It was graduation week in Newcastle, though what that had to do with Saturday lunch service at the Cherry TreeI do not know! I and my friends have regularly booked lunch at the Cherry Tree on Saturday. We booked for 4, the menu on line was the usual menu, but when we arrived on this particular Saturday, we were advised... Hi Lesley, We're sorry if there was any confusion, and accept that an old menu may have been left online (I have no way of checking this now) but we had advised our graduation menu for a good few weeks. It was a different menu than our usual table d'hote - it was both more extensive and used more costly... More

We took the table d'hôte evening menu, which is a reasonable £16 for two courses and £19.50 for three. This menu is available all evening on Mondays to Wednesdays, but only until 18.30 on Thursdays and Fridays and 1700 on Saturdays. The food was freshly prepared and well-presented, but the portions, of fish and steak, were not huge. We had... More

Celebrating our son and daughter in-law's wedding anniversary and special birthday! Delighted that we were not disappointed with our choice. The atmosphere, decor, friendly staff and food made the night special. Tempura prawns, pigeon breast and cheese soufflé chosen for starters and 2 cote de boeuf for main course amongst 5. They were all delicious and although at first there... More

Had the opportunity to experience the fine dining on offer here back in June when I visited with a group of friends for a birthday celebration, very impressed with the décor and overall ambience of the restaurant together with the general customer service, swiftly shown to our table and presented with table d’hote menus. The menu looked very appetising and... More

I went for weekday lunch with a friend. The fixed price menu has a wide range of choices, all of which sounded delicious. The food is very high quality with attention to flavour and good ingredients. Great value as 3 courses for £15.50. The service was very professional and attentive and fully deserved the obligatory 10% service charge. Complimentary bread... More

Excellent value food for lunch, brilliant wine list and the lovely waitress remembered us from a previous visit last year! We won't wait so long to be back.

This used to be a really good restaurant. it has so much potential - great location, good building and yet my last visit was a disaster. Perhaps the flyers asking diners to be courteous and moderate their conversation during the live music should have been an indicator that the performers, and clearly not the customers were the priority. The seating... More

Went there for a birthday meal. There is a limited menu but with plenty of choice for most tastes. Good value Dover Sole was beautifully cooked and the Lobster and crab Thermidor delicious. There was a good pianist on the night we were there - not too noisy. We have enjoyed jazz/blues singers here in the past. Easy walk from... More

I regularly perform at The Cherry Tree as part of their live music events and have the pleasure of enjoying a meal each time I do! The food is always delicious, exciting and incredibly tasty. On this occasion I had smoked haddock kedgeree - a bed of rich, flavoured rice, smoked haddock and poached egg on top. The combination of... More
