We were given a lovely table on its own upstairs and enjoyed a great evening with efficient service and fabulous food. The attention from the staff was perfect and the quality of the food was excellent. Some unusual food combinations made for interesting conversation !! Staff helpfully organised taxi at end of evening and most of all we were not... More

Fine dining for all. Perfect for a meal with the parents. I've been to this restaurant twice and found it to be of exceedingly high quality each time. The food is hearty, tasty and filling with attention to detail. The staff are extraordinarily attentive, it's the little things that count, like taking your coat on arrival and keeping your water... An excellent enjoyable and relaxing meal to mark that day. Although not particularly romantic in atmosphere the live, but subdued, music ,provided by a superb pianist, was a very pleasant background and enhanced the overall ambience.Certainly it was far better than the standard canned music found in many restaurants, that either intrudes or cannot be heard. The service was friendly and... More

I booked a 14:30 table and was running late and they generously allowed me to delay my booking for 15:00. After driving around for a bit we settled with borrowing the colts steakhouses' parking around the back. I walked past a 'fully booked' sign which was a little confusing as it wasn't that busy. Walked through the doors looking to... More

Had Sunday lunch, when we arrived immediately a lady came to take our coats as I was approaching the bar the bar said he would come to our table. The drinks order was taken and menus given, drinks delivered straight away. The rest of party arrived and we were immediately shown to our table, orders taken promptly. I had tempura... More

The last time I visited The Cherry Tree, I left more than a touch disappointed--- small portions, disjointed, average service, and nothing to make me return in a hurry. I needed to organise a staff night out, with a reasonably tight budget, but hopefully decent food and ambience. Almost reluctantly I decided to give it another go, more because of... More

We stopped in for an impromptu Sunday dinner after we found ourselves in Newcastle buying a new car. We stayed in a little budget hotel five mins walk up the road and stumbled on this place totally by accident. What a find.. From the outset we were made to feel more than welcome by the very personable Manageress and this... More
