We've had a couple of meals here now and both have been excellent. The service is professional and very friendly especially Monica who looked after us and ensured we had everything we needed. As an example, when I booked the first time I asked Monica if she had a bottle of Veuve Clicquot (special occasion), she didn’t, but when we... More

We came here during lunch time on a Saturday, when we went in we were greeted by a friendly waitress. There was a Special 3 courses fixed price menu being offered, the price for 2 courses was £12.50 for lunch and £16 for dinner. I had a Szechuan pepper squid, Asian noodle salad, lime and coriander to start off with,... More

It's on all night in a Mon-Weds and is the best early/set menu I've had in Newcastle. My beetroot and goats cheese salad was really tasty (saving room for my main of steak!!) Rump steak, medium rare with chips, salad, onion ring, mushroom and tomato... all for £16 for 2 courses!!! My boyfriends soufflé and belly pork were really tasty... More

We first discovered The Cherry Tree about 4 years ago after reading some favourable reviews in Trip Advisor. We have had a number of memorable meals here during the intervening period. About 18-24 months ago, the ownership/management of the restaurant changed, and while the quality of the cooking stayed the same and perhaps even improved, the service, which was formerly... More

Great service, great food and very lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. If you happen to order from the mixed menu, make sure you order the rump steak!

Looking for somewhere to eat away from the chains that most people seem to like, did a few searches and found the Cherry Tree a short walk from the hotel. Quick service and great food in an individual environment.Perfect!

I tried this place on a Saturday evening, after coming back from the races. I should mention that I have passed this place numerous times but as the area is famous for its bars, I had always thought this one was a bar too. The service was as you expect from a decent restaurant. The staff were polite, friendly and... More

It was graduation week in Newcastle, though what that had to do with Saturday lunch service at the Cherry TreeI do not know! I and my friends have regularly booked lunch at the Cherry Tree on Saturday. We booked for 4, the menu on line was the usual menu, but when we arrived on this particular Saturday, we were advised... Hi Lesley, We're sorry if there was any confusion, and accept that an old menu may have been left online (I have no way of checking this now) but we had advised our graduation menu for a good few weeks. It was a different menu than our usual table d'hote - it was both more extensive and used more costly... More

We took the table d'hôte evening menu, which is a reasonable £16 for two courses and £19.50 for three. This menu is available all evening on Mondays to Wednesdays, but only until 18.30 on Thursdays and Fridays and 1700 on Saturdays. The food was freshly prepared and well-presented, but the portions, of fish and steak, were not huge. We had... More
