Description: Tyne and dine at Newcastles Bridge Restaurant, with its spectacular views over the River Tyne and the soaring arc of the Tyne Bridge. The restaurant is in the Vermont Hotel, a Manhattan-style 1930s tower right next to the remains of the citys medieval castle and close to the revitalised Quayside area. Start with marinated herring with crisp pancetta and honey-mustard vinaigrette or the more substantial confit duck and red onion tart tatin. Then dig in to baked lamp rump with minted lentils and garlic potatoes, or pan-seared wild salmon, braised spring cabbage and clam casserole. You may think youll be able to resist the milk chocolate crme brle with Baileys ice-cream, but thats only because youll fall for the steamed lemon sponge with vanilla crme frache instead.

I would like to thank the maître d' and all the serving staff who looked after us on the evening. Let's get back to the nitty gritty, as you walk in, the restaraunt is immaculate and spotlessly clean. We ordered our food, my wife opted for the pan seared seabass which she was delightful, crisp on the outer skin but... More

Typical of many hotel good quality hotel restaurants, and not a place we would normally choose to eat given the choice in Newcastle. We dined here to take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer in Gourmet. Was a bit annoyed to fine the menu was different, and more expensive than the version on their website. All that said, the... More

My daughter arranged this restaurant for our anniversary and so we thought it would be really lovely and it was, but it was far superior to what we thought. The staff were the best and the food was absolutely spot on ! We can't wait for an excuse to go back again...soon ! Thank you to all the staff, from... More

This is a great restaurant. No doubt about that. We enjoyed a 3 course meal and every course was beautiful. I had Calamari (which were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful), a 10oz Sirloin Steak (also cooked to perfection) and a Sticky Toffee Pudding. The waiters were wonderful and attentive without being invasive. It was truly excellent and unbelievable value... More

Hubby and I popped in here for a drink on a night out as it does have a good reputation within the city and is away from the madness! I still can't quite believe I was given my red wine in a slim-jim/tumbler. When I queried this with the young barman, he told me there were no clean glasses so... More

My uncle stayed here recently and because i booked via laterooms i received an e mail for some feedback... Couldn't do that as i didn't stay however noticed that the hotel does sunday lunch for a reasonable 16 pounds for 3 courses. Nine of us attended sunday 9th march and it was almost clean plates all the way. Everyone enjoyed... More

Had the 2 people wine and dine menu for £59, 3 courses. Could not fault it. Good service and very nice food. Well worth the visit and the price.

Service was really good everyone was pleasant. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. We couldn't finish it all! We used our gourmet society membership card giving a great discount. Great location, great food, great service, great price! We will be visiting again.

The best bit of my experience was the friendly service, the waiter who served me was very friendly, helpful and attentive. My starter of smoked salmon was delicious. However, the main I ordered (vegetable hotpot) came out cold in the middle. The waiter was very apologetic, took it back and the chef sent out a very hot new one as... More
