A surprising find

Hidden down a lane, you're unlikely to find it by accident. From the outside it looks small and welcoming, and the bar area is. Several well kept beers. Friendly, busy, but not obtrusive. And at the back the restaurant: The restaurant is not fancy. It's open, light and honest, with sufficient... read more

We visited for Sunday brunch with my parents who like it a lot. My starter of breaded squid was disappointing - very thin slices which meant that it was very dry and the amount of sweet chilli sauce was mean. We all had Sunday roasts and the meat was really good but the vegetables could have been a bit better.... More

I've become a regular - whether for a snack, Sunday lunch, more formal dinner - alone or with friends or business colleagues. Food is always brilliant - excellent chef and kitchen team - lovely and attentive waiting staff. This is the best restaurant for miles and I am lucky to live nearby.

As a regular to the White Hart, I'm sorry to say the food is no longer what it used to be. It seems that corners are being cut and portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller. The bar, the setting and the staff are great, but it used to be a great place to get a pizza. But now, the... More

A great local restaurant, we have visited several times with friends, family, children. Always felt welcome and enjoyed our experience. We were a little put off after the refurb a few years ago as we felt the pub had lost a lot of its 'olde world' charm and character. But this seems to be coming back slightly, although it does... I hae been to this country pub a few times now and it's such a nice location! The food is usually very tasty but I was unlucky once with a 'smelly' seafood starter. I just sent it back and they were very helpfl, it didn't stop me from going back as the venue has lots of character and it's so... More

Have been here three times now when visiting family. I cannot recommend the food highly enough..it outshines anything in Guildford and in fact a lot of my London local haunts.... The filet is fab. The risotto a Roman would be proud of...and the treacle tart made for the queen of tarts...subtle light and zesty. If I lived here I would... More

Wanted to take partner out in Guildford as I'm not from here so I looked on Trip Advisor and this pub stood out. Glad I used this site as this Pub was a real Gem of a find. An aesthetically pleasing typical country pub not far from Guildford. You are spoilt for choice with the Menu.We chose Crispy Duck salad... More

Thank you for excellent food & service & for going to so much trouble to check everything for my grandson who has a nut allergy. My 91 year old mother really enjoyed it too! We had a lovely family meal & we appreciated not being rushed.

Second time that I visited here - and just as good if not better. The pub is slightly out of Guildford in a nice area but not difficult to find. There is an excellent range of food available at lunch time, I had the crispy duck salad which was really tasty and the serving was huge! The service was friendly... More
