Very sorry that my favorite Guildford restaurant has been forced to close so that the landlord can re-develop the property (more money). Hope Gennaro finds a nice location and reopens soon.

We've enjoyed Da Gennaro for years, and it was a special place for our son, as well. They were always so welcoming, the food consistently enjoyable, but most of all we loved the personal atmosphere. You will be sorely missed!!

We have just discovered that the only restaurant we would always naturally go to eat, on any occasion, with any of our family or friends, in Guildford, is closed. Echo all the sadness in other reviews, miss the lovely lady of the house, the comforting smells, the escape from business of town for a while... And at a complete loss... More

This is a very sad day, as Da Gennaro will be closing its doors for the last time ever tonight. My family and I have been visiting the restaurant for many years. It was Gennaro who convinced my daughter that cutting her spaghetti with a knife was really not on - twirling it round a spoon was so much better... More

The best thing about the restaurant was the friendly service. The food was very poor, starters over cooked also the main courses were no better steak ordered rare turned up medium in middle and cooked on edges, the Veal topped with a slice of packet ham and cheese was a case of hunt the veal pieces under the tomato sauce.... We have been going to Da Gennaro for years and the service and quality of the food has always been second to none. The team are always so welcoming and friendly, and I have never felt such a warm atmosphere in any other restaurant in this country. I have just had my first child and had pictured him joining us... DaGennaro are a fantastic family run restaurant. Just like any restaurant on trip advisor people complain about stupid things sometimes, usually because they have the attitude that everything has to be perfect - but they need to know the world is never perfect. The warmth and welcome given by staff and to be remembered every time one goes back makes... More

On Valentine's day, my partner, laden with flowers, asked in person at Da Gennaro whether there was a table available for that evening. The answer was a definite "no we are fully booked." Feeling there was something that didn't quite sit well with him, he went around the corner and rang up the restaurant asking the same question. The lady... More

This friendly, family run Italian restaurant is our favourite in Guildford. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, the food excellent - the handmade pizzas are the best we've tried. Highly recommended if you want a friendly, authentic Italian meal in comfortable unpretentious surroundings. Excellent all round.
