We went with friends from Canada who liked the old world charm of The Withies but the food was only ok for the price. The menu is very traditional and would appeal to those diners who aren't very adventurous. Service was very attentive and the waiters always noted when we needed something and were quick to arrive at our table.... More

Having been here many times over the years, often spending fortunes taking clients here (£60 bottle of wine, why not?! - corked, that's why not!) The menu never changed so we thought we knew what we would get... not so. My partner & I wanted a special evening out (rare with all our respective children) and decided on The Withies.... More

Lovely lode worlde pub. Service initially somewhat lacking and nowhere reserved to sit in the pub area for drinks pre-meal as all seats were taken. Seating at table rather uncomfortable. Food good in general, however one sirloin steak requested as medium came well-done....not expected when paying these prices. Wines all at ridiculous prices with a very limited reasonably priced choice.

Very nice pub with a great restaurant. It really has it right: excellent menu, professional service and a nice buzz! We four friends had lunch and it was all very good. The menu includes a good selection of meat, fish and game. You can't really go wrong. The good people of Compton must relish the fact that they have a... More

Think twice before going here. Picture the scene, a lovely spring lunchtime, most people eating outside in the garden. You can choose from either a restaurant or a bar snack menu. Choose very carefully which route you go down. If you choose the restaurant menu you get a beautiful tablecloth, cutlery and place settings. We didn't have long so we... More

This is a classic village pub with old beams etc. but it is really old fashioned. The décor is frozen in the 1970s and so is the food: all classic dishes is a menu that is seldom seen nowadays: steak diane flambee, lots of boiled vegetables, knickerbocker glory etc. It can be popular at weekends especially in the summer but... The Withies Inn boasts an amazing 'old English structure, the property is in a quaint oak beam dinning room with beautiful garden, the menu is delightful with fish, crab, mussels and a good selection of meats. The food was amazing and complimented with a very good personable service, we will return!

4 of us stopped off at this lovely little pub during a circular walk around Guildford. You instantly feel welcome when you walk through the door and the roaring fire was enticing. We never ate on this occasion and just had some drinks, crisps, and nuts. It's a place I could easily spend all Sunday afternoon lazing in. The food... More

This place is stuck in the 80s, with its crocheted doilies, steak Diane and over-cooked veg. Its prices are the one thing that are right up-to-date, though. It does have some charm (the building is pretty), but I found the service overbearing and was disappointed to see it's taken the route of adding a 'discretionary' service charge to the bill....
