Visited this pub - wide variety of ales, very good atmosphere. Had a superbly cooked Sunday Lunch with a wide variety of choices on the menu. Service was very good but faded by the time the sweet was served due to volume of diners after 1 pm. Recommend you visit at 12.30 and you will be served without delay. There... More

We went to the Running Horses on the recommendation of a local, of many years standing whose suggestions are generally pretty reliable. It's in a nice spot but the first thing we didn't bargain for was parking or the lack of it (there is no pub car park). So getting parked easily could be an issue for some. It has... More

We stopped here for a Saturday lunch whilst passing through the area. Saw the pub in the Good Pub Guide and thought it would be worth a try. Nice location, but not a very exciting venue. On arrival we spotted the bar menu and were pleased to hear food was served until 3pm. We ordered our food and drinks at... More

Having called and checked whether the venue was suitable/set up for kids we arrived to find no kids menu. Not as great start. I made the wrong decision and ordered the pork roast, really dry and the chef had kindly drowned it in apple sauce rather than giving me a side so I could decide how much apple was required,... More

The whole experience could only be rated as poor. The staff were not attentive and one wonders whether they had received proper training on customer service. Please do not order the whitebait or the soup which was far too thick. Beef was very average and the vegetables had not been properly cooked. Decided to miss out on the desert. And... More

After a relaxed drink in the friendly and snuggly bar we wafted through to a delightful table for eight in the dining room - more formal but still relaxed in atmosphere and delightfully welcoming. The staff, despite the busy restaurant, were their usual charming, chatty and incredibly efficient selves. We chose our favourite white Rioja, chilled to perfection, and then... More

We went here after a repeat visit from last year and it did not turn out as nice. The Man in the waistcoat, did not get his name was very rude to us he came out and said we were late for our booking, even though we had told him we were already here and waiting for other members of... More

Over priced pub food, the pub was not busy and the staff were less than attentive. There are plenty, far better, pubs to eat in in Surrey.

We booked a Sunday lunch at The Running Horses on a bright and sunny March weekend. Starting off with a seasonal Brakspear Special beer. Excellent Roast Beef and all the Trimmings! Ample slices of moist, delicious beef, massive rustic, light Yorkshire Pudding and spot-on trimmings, perfect chunky chips. Burger was both filling and tasty. Shared Eton Mess was memorable and... 5 of us went to the Running Horses yesterday, the food was absolutely awful. The only good meal was the gammon with leeks, my husband had the traditional roast beef dinner and he said the beef was dire. I had the rissoto, which I only ate a quarter of as it was so bland - I wasnt asked why I... More
