Enjoyed a pleasant evening meal here, staff and owners very friendly and the food was good value. Tradition English pub menu, unassuming and not trying to be anything it isn't. Very tasty!

Walking into the volunteer to see it very busy on a sunny Sunday afternoon , being booked up they managed to squeeze me and my husband in , at a table infront of the fire , we were seated by a young lady that was very attentive and polite with a smile on her face , foodn came out quickly... More

Friends highly recommended this pub to us and we are so glad they did. There is a large garden with great views which is lovely on a summer's day; inside, the log fires burn which adds to a very cosy and friendly atmosphere. The wine selection is excellent and there are enough beers to keep you very happy. The food... More

We were recommended to this pub by friends. We visited on a sunny lunchtime & it was very nice sitting outside. In a very pleasant area. Food was fine if average, service good, seemed clean in all areas, would go again.

A classic example of how one can be misled by other reviews. We were fairly early on a thursday night and found the pub empty and dreary. My wife had a white wine which was very average and scampi and chips. This meal was typical of the very worst catering pack quality with tasteless scampi and grotty chips, which she... More

The words "lovely old pub" can be applied to so many in the area and this certainly ticks that box. The garden is a bit uneven and seating uncomfortable but a nice place to sit on a sunny day. Lunch menu was not very exciting and consisted mainly of pub staples and sandwiches which is fine. However it's pricey. Scampi,... More

This is a lovely old English pub with picturesque views. We really enjoyed the food which was very good. I had the fish pie, which was piping hot and tasty. My friend had the oriental salmon with sweet chilli sauce which was delicious. The staff were attentive and pleasant. We will return.

A family pub with staff that are friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, fresh piping hot and tasty. We all enjoyed the traditional British food, the fish pie was the best I have tasted. My granddaughter had the ribs and she reckoned the sauce was the best. Even the childrens food was home made and there was certainly plenty... More

Booked a table at this pub after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed the food was nicely served, generous in the portions and most of all excellent quality. The sirloin steak in particular was superb. The staff were friendly and very attentive especially to my grandchildren who were served first to their delight as... More

My husband and I booked the Volunteer Inn through great write ups from Trip advisor. Staying at Wotton House we wanted to have a lovely pub meal with good home cooking. This is certainly what we got! Great food, great service. Very friendly staff could not ask for more. I would certainly recommend this pub. We will be returning when... More
