On a rare sunny afternoon of London, I have enjoyed nice food and great red house wine in Dorking. This is popular spot among cyclers. The service was great, it is family owned nice pub with good view outside sitting.

We loved the wonderful site and building, the food, and the attentive, cheerful staff. We hope to make it back again.

This is the second time we have been here, the staff are very attentive and welcoming, the setting is great with great walks close by. Food is home cooked and very good. It's make a change to have a pub like this nowadays. Thanks, see you again soon.

The Volunteer is tucked into a cosy valley in the Surrey Hills, west of Dorking between Leith Hill and the North Downs, south of the A25, in the ancient hamlet of Sutton Abinger with its whitewashed cruck-framed houses. A stream runs past, with outside seating facing it alongside the car park and in a garden further up the slope to... More

Went in there for a couple of drinks and thought the waitress was joking when she told me the prices. A pint of coke was £3.70, and 2 pints of Guinness and a small bottle of beer over £12. Cannot understand how this place is still open with these prices. Would only recommend you to come here if you want... More

Very good food. The fish pie was special. It felt like a real pub and not a restaurant conversion with no heart. Service was good, the atmosphere was good and the food was good. What more could you want so I will be returning. It was a Friday lunchtime and quite crowded so i would recommend making a reservation.

Pub is in a beautiful location, went for a 5 mile walk first with our dog and they reserved us a table. Had the burger and fish pie, delicious, will definitely be back

An excellent pub in the beautiful Surrey countryside. My friends live locally and recommended we go for lunch. A warm welcome from the owners, a table near the fire, a lovely local ale and great food. With great friends, you can ask for nothing more. I would go out of my way to go back.

A warm welcome by the landlady followed by a great table for an excellent meal - proper pub grub. I had the steak and kidney pie which was a proper pie, not a pot full of casserole with a puff pastry lid; it was a fully enclosed pie. Others had the fish pie which was a good size and tasted... More
