Sunday Lunch with friends

Just what the doctor ordered! Good roast food with superb meat and excellent fresh veg, nice pint and service with a smile. All in a beautiful little valley. Can you ask for anything more?

We go to the Volunteer regularly for Sunday lunch. Lovely roast dinners, followed by ice cream makes the perfect meal! Staff are friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be back!

Friend of mine stumbled across The Volunteer by chance a few weeks back and we decided to give it a go for lunch. Six of us went for Sunday lunch as we're glad we did! Classic pub, lovely location, nice open fire, clean ale and friendly staff. For food I recommend the Camembert starter, Rack of Ribs (special) or their... More

I have recently visited the volunteer yet again ! Walking in , having a lovely sight of a cosy big open Fire and a warm friendly welcome from the staff . Seated on a table by the fire and drinks from the table and we were recommended the pie , which was to die for followed by sticky toffee !... More

Having driven through Holmbury St Mary many times, seen The Volunteer and not stopped, I decided to finally go for lunch and see if it lived up to its beautiful outside facade. In two words - It did. Lunch portions were generous and the lamb was succulent and tender. Desserts were good, with ample servings of cream and custard. Great... More

A great experience was had by all the family. To celebrate my Niece's 12th birthday we all met at the Volunteer. The staff made our group of nine very welcome in what was a lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere. It was a full house in there but it did not detract from the service. The roast's with all the...
