Sunday lunch treat!

A great experience was had by all the family. To celebrate my Niece's 12th birthday we all met at the Volunteer. The staff made our group of nine very welcome in what was a lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere. It was a full house in there but it did not detract from the service. The roast's... read more

Thanks very much to the landlord and lady for an excellent evening to celebrate my fathers birthday on Friday .once again they were happy to accommodate our family ( 12 ) and welcomed us as warmly as the lovely log fires that were burning . They served us delicious hot food from their menu which has plenty of choice ,... More

Took my dear old mum out for a ride in the country (21st March) with a view to a pub lunch somewhere. On the advice of a friend I booked a table for lunch as I was told it gets very busy and whacked the post code into my sat-nav....unless you're local it's a bit of a drive through winding... More

I have eaten at this pub on several occasions while walking in the area. The prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. I would recommend going when the weather is good as the pub has a good beer garden.

Great location with warm friendly atmosphere. We have been here a few times however feel the standards are sadly slipping. We stopped off late Feb for some lunch which was presented well but sadly I found a hair in my meal..yuk..a shortish grey/black hair! I should have shown if to the staff at the time...my mistake but tbh I was... More

We visited the pub on a whim but decided to stay for dinner. The land lady and staff were great, really friendly and welcoming. The pub itself was pretty and the burning fires added a lovely warmth. We ordered starters and a main each. The portions were very generous and the starters were fine. One of the mains was a... More

Dropped in for a spot of lunch, had the whitebait to start and I had the fish finger sandwich and my wife had a tuna mayo sandwich, tangle foot beer and an excellent Sauvignon white. All very good except there were lumps of butter on the bread with the tuna mayo! Roaring fire and attentive staff, all good except for... More

My husband had visited this pub while out walking late last year and it sounded so good that we went back for a lunchtime meal. The building and surrounding houses are beautiful. The atmosphere was welcoming with log fires warming us on this chilly damp day. The staff friendly and helpful. We found a non reserved table (it gets busy)... More

An excellent choice for a very tasty meal at a very fair price. A quaint pub set in a scenic part of the Surrey Hills. Definitely worth a visit!
