Been many times since last review. A winning combination of a cosy pub with an open fire, old-fashioned decor - no plastic , artificial rubbish, no muzak, no slot machines, no tv etc, just very good food and friendly staff and great atmosphere. Try to eat in the bar area by the fire and window. better than the rather gloomy... More

Have been to Woodbridge a lot but decided to get the train this time. As you get off the train you hope after a long journey is a welcome and good grub. If this is what you want walk on. Food is over priced and clearly is outside the skills of the chef. Atmosphere - you not round here sums... More

Visited for a Sunday lunch with the family, following recommendations from friends. On arrival had some concerns regarding our choice (this is a traditional country pub full of locals and regular drinkers). However we were shown to our table by the friendly staff, which was nestled next to a fire in the restaurant part of the pub. What followed was... More

I love this place... and it has its place, in Woodbridge. People and styles have changed over the years, but there's something timeless about The Anchor. If I were coming back to Woodbridge after years away, I'd go there. I did.

I cant comment on the food, although what I saw on other tables looked good. We only had a drink which was fine. I liked the style and character of the pub. Maybe some of the staff could of been a bit warmer on arrival.

Frequenting the anchor on a regular basis I have to say the food is always good; along with the service. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly; as are the locals. The lamb Peshawar curry on Tuesday lunchtime was particularly good, if it's on the menu, give it a go, excellent flavours, better than most curry houses

My partner and I had heard so much about how good this pub is so we thought we would pay it a visit.. On arrival there was around 15 people in the pub.We went to the bar where we didn't even get any type of welcome of any description. After a few minutes a member of staff asked us what... More

Visited the Anchor on a quiet midweek evening in October. The restaurant was not busy. The service was warm and attentive. The food served was excellent, although one of my guests had an element of their order not fulfilled. The Burger was served without the advertised coleslaw. Never the less the food served was of a standard to aspire to.... More

Popped in here with friends we were visitng who live in Kesgrave, it has the bar area of a traditional old pub but with a lot of people drinking and enjoying themselves. The atmosphere is very good and you can tell its prides itself on the traditional real ale feel of what a drinking pub should be like. I can't... More
